I carved this Jack-O’-Lantern three years ago, for Halloween of 2010. It depicts the Witch Face seen in the sky, on the HIII movie poster.
I started by drawing a pattern on the computer, then printed it out. Taped the printed pattern to the pumpkin. Then poked little small holes, along the outlines (creating dotted lines), to determine where I needed to carve.
The only area of the pumpkin that is cut all the way through, are the round highlights in the center of the eyes. I made them with a drill bit. The rest of the carving was done by just removing only the outer skin of the pumpkin. I used some wood carving tools, to scrape the outer skin away. This took a lot longer than a traditional Jack-O-Lantern, it was a lot of work…
