Hoping to compare / verify the authenticity of a Case XX 102-12 k

Hey everyone! This is my first ever post on this forum. I recently acquired what I’m hoping is an authentic Case XX 102-12 knife, and I was hoping to compare it to markings on 102-12s owned by other community members. If anyone would be willing to post some photos of theirs and/or if there are any authorities on these knives if you would please take a look and confirm whether I’ve found the real deal I would be most appreciative!

Thanks, all!

First of all congrats on a great score! Secondly I’m definitely no expert on this matter , but from my limited knowledge the hero knife had nickel rivets ? These look like brass rivets by the look of the tarnishing? Other people more knowledgeable than me can confirm this if I’m right.

Thank you, and thanks for your feedback! I think the lighting in the photos makes it look like brass but to the naked eye they are silver/nickel. This is what I was able to find about “nickel” knife rivets:

The handle shape and rivet placement is off, so it isn’t screen accurate, if that is what you’re asking, here is the screenused knife handle for reference, the make and model are real though and legit

Oh that’s interesting, I hadn’t seen that handle shape or noticed the rivet placement difference before. Is that your knife? Its gorgeous! Do you have a photo of the factory markings on the blade face? Thanks for your reply!

It’s not mine, it’s photos taken by Randy Moore, who worked on the film, who owns the hero/screenused knife as well as the Judith Tombstone, and as you see, the markings are scratched off the blade, here’s the link to the original post of him posting the knife and tombstone, don’t expect a response though, as he hasn’t been active for many years since he posted the shots

EDIT :
Found out why, he passed in 2023

Awesome, thanks very much, like I said I’m brand new here, so lots of catching up to do! But you do think my knife is a legit Case 102-12 if I understand your earlier comment correctly, just not the screen used configuration.

Yes, it is a real Case 102-12, just not the same era as the screenused knife

Awesome! Yeah, I jumped on it when I saw it, because I feel like I have better odds of getting struck by lightning twice than finding even another 102-12 let alone one with the screen-correct configuration. I just wanted to “join the club” so to speak and get as close as fate would allow. My goal is to make a custom H1 themed shadow box display for it. Thanks for all your insight!

You could get it modified to be more accurate

I would sooner keep it as is than do anything too invasive… Do you mean do a custom handle for it? To the untrained eye its close enough for government work, ya know? It’s too cool of an antique knife to try to make it something it isn’t for mere aesthetic purposes…
