This relevant to all horror films, not just Halloween, but I thought of it because I’m watching Halloween: Resurrection and it happens in this movie. How the hell does anyone get locked IN the house? I can understand getting locked OUT, but in my experience, locking mechanisms for doors are usually on the inside. The only thing I can ever think of is that the locks themselves get busted, but no one ever says that, they just rattle the door and go “WE’RE LOCKED IN!” No one ever bothers to just turn the lock, or even try to turn the lock, to the “unlocked” position.
For me I always justified the stupid acts in horror in 2 ways. 1. people act very strange/different in scary situations( I’ve seen it in person). 2. They intentionally put that stuff in so the crowd watching gets more invovled.
As for in H Res…I know I would not want to be in a house with Busta, errr i mean michael. I’d kill myself.
You cannot lock yourself in, but I believe in that movie, busta ryemes character purposely locked them in…Dean
he did lock them in for the night.
I’ve seen it in a few more movies, too. I think it was even in the original Halloween. I do think it’s just something movie makers add in to add suspense, but ever since I first saw this particular device used, it’s stuck out as totally stupid to me.
Go watch H4 again
busta rhymes’ character deliberately locked the contestants in the house. myers just happened to already be inside before this occurred. and in h4, the exact same process happened, the sheriff had every door in the house installed with dead locks that had no knobs. just key holes. then, he had every window nailed shut.
