How do you prefer to start your eye conversions? From a Kirk or a “Myers version?”

Hello everyone:slightly_smiling_face:. I was just curious as to how you would get the look you want either from a raw Kirk version or from when it was already in Myers form whether the eyecuts would be a factor or not. I ask this because although I have not had many Kirk or Myers masks I am now paranoid of experimenting on the ones I have now. In the past I have experimented on at least a half dozen PMG mass produced “Myers” masks and two “Kirks with a bit of disappointment” (due to trial and error). I would really like to hear your feedback on this. I love this site and also hearing many different angles and perspectives. Halloween will be here before you know it :grinning:.

definitely us tots kirks and start them off small on the shape of the cuts on the hero, since you can always make them bigger, they did it with the eyes on the H4 masks

Funny thing, I have two TOTS Kirks. One of them is an earlier version that looks pretty decent. I can see the “blank” exression in it. The second one is a bit bloated but it was a Christmas present from my father and I still appreciate it so much that I don’t want to risk it with either one. Both were from my parents. I guess to make a long story short I may get a third TOTS Kirk so I can do a test run and maybe not feel so bad. It’s just that I’ve tried to cut eyecuts before and the latex was a familiar thinner type and unless someone has a specific method it can be very difficult.

I photoshopped my Kirk against a shot of the Hero:

Then drew them on with a sharpie, and used curved nail scissors to cut them out.

I had to patch a couple of rough cuts with liquid latex, but it came out alright for a first go.

They may look small, but my head stretches the mask vertically and the eyes more open.

although this is using the stock image, I used the shot of the hero and lined it up as best I could with the kirk eyes

Starting with kirk eyes is much easier. Draw them on carefully with a marker, getting them exact and then use cuticle scissors to cut them out.

If you look closely there are thin lines around the eyes. Supposed to be eyelids I suppose. I cut inside of the lines then dremeled them until they were the right size and shape.

Thanks for the input guys🙂. I wanted to hear from you since people have there own different methods or trade secrets.
