They really should have just kept the Buechler mask. I get wanting to out your own stamp on it, but the KNB mask was absolute dogshit and the Miner mask near only passable. I would have been completely content had the franchise “decided” that the Halloween 6 mask was just the mask for the franchise from then on.
What I meant was it’s better if it doesn’t get mentioned, because it receives more hate than it deserves. The main mask looks really good, people just like to use the worst pictures of it.
It isn’t a bad mask - way better obviously than the KNB, and better than 4 and 5 - but I don’t think it’s a very photogenic mask. It looks way better as a party mask than in the movie proper.
First let’s ignore the knb mask. It’s still in the movie, but only from very far distance shots. That one image of the knb mask that gets used a lot is from the original trailer, not the finished movie.
The main mask shares many design similarities with the classic H1/H2 Shatner mask. Outside of the first Rob Zombie film, and the newest films, it’s the mask that resembles the original H1/H2 mask.
The Buechler mask isn’t an H6 mask, it’s based on it, but it had many design alterations made to it. The eye holes were enlarged, the neck extended, the hair completely redone, and painted pale white. The Buechler mask has all of the same design “flaws” as the main mask. The large eye holes, the longer neck.
The two pictures below are of the screen used Buechler mask, now owned by Sean Clark.
The mask used in Halloween 6 also shares the spiky hairstyle as the main mask used in H20. The two pictures below are bts pictures from H6.
Also I think the mask used in H6 is fine, but it looks nothing like the Shatner besides the cheekbones, and hairline.
The ears stick out a lot and are very pointy, giving it a goblin look. The nose is quite different. A longer and wider neck. Like I mentioned before, it has the spiky hairstyle that H20 has.
The texture of the mask is very rough and bumpy, and facial features are very sharp, like it’s made out of stone. It’s something Sean Clark has pointed out about the mask.
I’m not criticizing the H6 mask by the way, I’m just highlighting why it looks really different from the original Shatner mask.
Right, the Miner mask is a good mask, and you have convinced me that it is better than I remember, but I don’t know if it’s just Miner’s shooting style or what, but it looks bad in most of the film. There aren’t many good shots that show it off outside of the last showdown.
With the new information, I’d probably say
1
2018

6 (I know it doesn’t look that much like Shat, but I think it’s a great mask of itself)
H20 Miner
Ends
Zombieween
2

4
H20 CGI
H20 KNB
I say check out the newly released 4k for H20. The visible eyes, and loss of detail was mostly caused by the movie being brighten up over the years on dvd/blu ray. The previous versions gave it a washed out look.
This picture is from the new 4k. This is more or less what the movie looked like when it originally released back in theaters. The new 4k returned the movie back to being darkly lit once more.
This second picture is from the old blu ray. They basically butchered the movie.
