I have little doubt that we will see a sequel (2019 I wish). I had a conversation with friends who said “this is stupid there is no way he could survive”. While that might make sense this is the magical world of Haddonfield and he will survive.
My only theory is that he somehow shield himself in the basement. Possibly in the gun cabinet. In no time at all the fire department is going to show up and put out the fire. What do they have to do next? Apply medical treatment to anyone they find. He is transported to the hospital where he is treated, saved, and escapes .
This is exactly what happened after the 1st movie. He is shot, stabbed, poked in the eye when Hawkin’s finds him. Same deal, emergency services have to save him regardless.
How there could possibly be a mask left in this scenario I am not quite sure but Courtney did such an amazing job he would be just as terrifying without the mask.
They would have to keep the mask, he must have found a escape tunnel if some sort because even if it was built as a trap there still must be some kind of place to get out just in case you would get trapped down there yourself. Idk it will be interesting to see that’s for sure because let’s face it. There will be a sequel eventually
Michael hides in the gun cabinet, house burns down, fire department shows up. Nobody can find his body, but everyone is convinced he burned in the fire. Everyone except Laurie and her family.
Michael somehow escapes.
What I’m wondering is where the next movie will pick up. Same night or next year?
Also, the mask will stay. It says in the book that the mask begins to bubble and melt into Michael’s face. I’m assuming he won’t be able to take it off in the next film (which I’m sure he’s okay with)
I think it be cool if they incorporated some kind of cult aspect into it. Like a body of people and a curse controlling Myers and that’s why he’s evil.
Posting a fair warning that this is sarcasm before someone comes for me
In such a haphazardly edited film with lack of tension throughout because of it, notice the fact this scene was in and that they highlighted just how weak and brittle the floorboards were. You can see light shining/shadows through them and that a huge chunk is blown off by Laurie.
If we ignore all sequels except the first, we know Michael can drive, play cat and mouse, enter in and of places expertly. Is it really farfetched for him to see a hole where there is no fire or is escaping from, grabbing something to stand on and punching or pulling himself from it?
He survived for sure. The last frame he is not standing there anymore and the after credits you can hear him breathing. As for how, I agree I think he will go up through the floorboards, makes the most sense, not going to have time to look for a escape even if she built one.
It’s very brief but if you look closely there is a window in the basement that he could easily bust open security cage or not he’s seen busting the barrier of a cop car in the movie a window should be no problem.
I don’t think he went through the ceiling honestly. If he did, he managed to get up there very quick. In the shot were you see the basement – but no Michael, there isn’t a visible hole in the ceiling. Who knows though. You can barely see
Keep in mind the abuse the character has been through in other entries and has survived. This may be a different continuity, and a more human Michael, but they use the same character basis.
