Hi I see on ebay a seller selling vintage with the tags Don post masks from the 80s. On average they are selling for 400-600 dollars!!! If I may ask here. Are the values of these 1980s don post masks incredibly high? A guy just sold 20 masks and I counted he made like $15000.00 dollars on ebay Including the h3 original pumpkin and the Hagatha.
Is it just what people want to pay for them or are these extremely high in value?
There was another one that sold high a Distortions Unlimited - “Nightmare IV” (1982) Limited Edition Collectors Mask sold for almost 500 us dollars! What the heck?
I notice it usually someone with the ebay initials i…i that bids on this. I remember someone bidding on the wmp masks on ebay with i…i . This guy must be a huge collector lol.
60’s-80’sDon Post and Distortions masks are very rare in mint condition and highly sought after.I have many masks i’v never seen duplicates of So these masks may be one of 10-15 left in the world. My family comes over and says ‘‘These Myers masks go for 500 bucks’’ WHY? I say supply and demand.
Fairly subjective…show the mask to someone and say “oh this cost me $50” and they’d be like “cool, that’s a nice mask, not a bad deal!”…tell them “oh, this was $500” they’ll be like “what? woah, crazy”. It’s all in the numbers.
Also wanted that the formula to get noticed on this forum is to buy and display expensive masks…so, as with the world in general, money makes everything go 'round…throw hundreds (or thousands) dollars on masks and share them on here and you’re a star…
That’s the essence of collecting for a great number of people here, and with just about any hobby. Some people collect whatever it is just to collect, but a lot of people seek out rare things. The less there are of a certain piece, the more it’s going to cost. Look at an oiginal Boba Fett star wars figure mint on card, an unopened G1 Megatron, the first Snake Eyes figure ever produced, or a complete unopened USS Flagg, etc, etc. It’s just a perfect example of supply and demand. Also, rare pieces generally get bigger responses when someone lands one because people don’t see them as often. It’s especially true with rare items that are in mint condition. For a lot of people it’s like seeing something like a muscle car from the 70s with all original parts, all matching numbers and glass like perfect paint. Posting the same thing that 300 other people have posted isn’t going to get the response of something truly rare and unique.
As with most collecting hobbies, it can get expensive. Word of advise to the young underage mask fans, get a job, save your money to buy a nice Indy mask. In the meantime it’s nice to drool at all the cool masks our peers own. That’s how most of us started anyways.
