How to Clean Mask?

Hey guys. I’m new to collecting/owning Myers masks. Started with an absolutely hilarious excuse of a Myers mask 3 years ago, then bought the TOTS 78 Mask, and now I’m onto Sinister Studio’s “The Obsession” mask. My question is this: After wearing my mask how should I clean it, to ensure it lasts for years to come? I’d love to hear what some of you specifically do to clean/care for your mask after use, or what people generally do. Thanks!

Talcum powder and not wearing it, also keeping it out of indirect sunlight

Talcum powder? I’ve heard pretty much everywhere that no-talc should be used, or something like corn starch. Is this wrong? And as for not wearing it. I’m wondering how to clean it after wearing because although I purchased for display it is also so I can use it on Halloween to wear.

You’ll want to wipe down any areas that have sweat, and cornstach is what is used, Talcum will ruin the latex, also stuff it with bags and put it in a place with no light

Use the care instructions on all TOTS masks; Wipe away sweat with a damp cloth or sponge inside mask, then let dry, and dust the inside with corn startch or any non-talc powder.

if you wore it for a small amount of time like taking pics, just an alcohol free baby wipe is good, then pat dry with a paper towel.

If youve been wearing it for a long time and sweating in it like halloween, or a convention.
First rinse it out with water, use dish soap like sunlight/palmolive etc squirt some on a damp paper towel all cold water.

take the soapy ppr towel and wipe out the mask, get in the nose/ears/chin then wipe it off with clean wet ppr towels.
when its clean blot it dry with paper towels let it dry naturally

After its dry take a 2"’ inch paint brush, sprinkle some corn starch or unscented baby powder in the mask.
then use the brush to spread it around, get in all the nooks and crannies, the ears nose etc

What does everyone use to stuff their masks with for display? Or is plastic bags really the best?

I use polyfil, which is the stuff that is used to stuff “stuff animals.”

You mean direct sunlight?

I never had any issues with indirect sunlight, but it is always good to be cautious.

I cleaned all my latex masks with damp sponges and it helped a ton with getting all the sweat off. When I had my old CGP warlock getting into the hobby the mask had lasted for years in such good condition after countless of times being worn on halloween or just simply messing with it throughout the time. Loved the hell out of that mask. Such a beautiful piece at the time. Getting back into it with TOTS masks pretty much did the same thing with my original Tots H2 from the 2012 run, up until when the mask was starting to go to a better place then got another one.

It depends what kind of display your going for. Any simple plastic bags neatly stuffed can do the trick to keep your mask in shape. Other would be like me that used to use styrofoam heads to display my latex masks. They say the material can make the latex rot away destroying your mask as time passes by causing it to be hard as a rock. So the trick is to wrap around at least two or three plastic bags on the foam head to prevent any contact with the mask. After this your mask should be perfectly fine for display. Just my basic methods :unamused:
