So I’ve recently been pondering the idea of making my own Myers mask. I would like to try three different things and I’m curious if there are any artists on here that can give me some proper direction on these three different ways of doing it. #1) I would like to do a complete ground up conversion from a good copy of a Captain Kirk mask that I can buy. #2) I would like to do a rehaul to a tots mask. And… #3 I would like to learn how to sculpt and make my own from the ground up. Obviously a good place to start would be doing conversions and practicing paint work as well as re-hairing te conversions. So with that being said I’m pretty savvy with paint work as I was an auto body apprentice for 2 years so I know a lot about paint prep as well as paint finishing. Granted these are two very different worlds with emphasis on the word very but I believe my experience with these things would factor in well. That being said where can I get proper paint for doing this type of thing and what is involved in adding things such as texture. A good example is my night owl creep. It has a bit of a textured feel to it throughout the mask. That being said though I’m looking for a good source for the paint and other supplies to do this type of work. On the sculpting end if anybody has somewhere they can direct me for some good videos to learn from and any good information that would help I would be very grateful for that. I hope is is to potentially get into doing this on the side and possibly become a new indie mask artist in the Halloween franchise universe. One thing about me when it comes to this kind of thing I have impeccable attention to detail and I am very OCD about the work I do when it comes to painting or just making something in general. I have a lot of skills and abilities that I think would serve me well in this hobby so anyways with that being said I will leave this topic open for discussion and I hope to hear back from any of you who are mask artists or any of you who have done re-hauls of your own and look forward to getting some direction and information and honing my skills in this awesome hobby. Thanks in advance!
