How to weather RZH1 coveralls?

Something to keep in mind with dyeing is that the longer you let the coveralls soak in the dye, the deeper the dye sets, and the darker the color will be. I believe this is stated in the instructions on the bottle, too. When I did mine, I soaked it for only a couple hours, about 2 hours max (I can’t remember the exact time). I also did a rinse cycle after the dye job to get any excess out. The darkness you see in these photos is actually from over weathering, and not the dyeing (as seen in the pre-weathered drying photo).

When I did mine, I just used dark brown dye. I didn’t add in that green color people say to add in for the layering color. Instead, I just misted the coveralls with matte black spray paint to achieve the dried oil stains look. I had the added benefit of my dad giving me his old pair to use, and being a retired heavy equipment operator, there were already plenty of real oil stains on there. As a con, though, they were already in pretty rough shape, but being that these coveralls have gotten quite rare, beggars can’t be choosers. In retrospect, I did the weathering a bit too dark, but most of the references I worked off of were production stills and BTS photos, and most of the movie takes place in the dark anyway, so I think it still works out. I’ve been considering going back and adding MORE blood effects, but eh.
