HSS WIN A 99' SHATNER CONTESTOVER NO MORE ENTRIES!

The reason I collect:

My fondest memories would be when I was growing (1980’s) up my parents ran a local jaycee Haunted House and every year they would purchase new masks for the house and my living room would be packed full of boxes from places like, Morris, Death Studios, Distortions and Don Post. I would love coming home from school and seeing new monsters everywhere! My Dad would always let me try them on and I would run around the house and neighborhood with a mask on that was 5 sizes to big for me. I was the coolest kid around (at least we thought so). I can remember not being able to see anything and the mask swirling around on my head.

My dad was the one who really got me into horror and Halloween. I think that is why I collect today. My dad passed away 5 years ago from a massive stroke and every time I order a new mask or trade with someone it’s like reliving my childhood all over again. I lOVE coming home from work and seeing that box on my doorstep. It just reminds me of the great times I had with my Dad and those boxes of masks! I still have a lot of those masks and I will never EVER sell them.

Thanks,

Bryan

Being a child of the 70’s, as i was kinda coming of age (8 or 9  ) i had two older brothers who on every halloween, made me my costume. So there was a paper mache’ yoda head with burlap sack… a functionong R2-D2 with spinning head and door bell buzzer inside that BZZZZZDDD when pressed. Plenty of creative costumes they were helping me with every year.

But as i was nearing the end of the 70’s - i, like many kids at the time was heavy into KISS. It was my first concert i ever went to. KISS & Cheap Trick at the Pontiac Silverdome in Mich. I was in 3rd grade.

So my brother made me a Gibson like Ace Frehley guitar on my dads work bench. And with some help from my mothers wardrobe… WAHLAH-!!

It was also around that time that i went with them to see HalloweeN when it came out at the drive in!!!
Halloween, the season (as well as the movie of course) has always been a magical time for me…
When i was in 7th or 8th grade and i first saw a Michael mask in a halloween store… i bought it and have ALWAYS been MM every halloween since… NO LIE-
My first mask being a Don Post of some sort- and of course, wouldn’t you know it, i have NO pictures of that one… :imp:

But i look back fondly at the Halloweens of my youth- i was extrememly lucky to have the brothers i did-

I love them dearly.

Thanks and good luck to all-
Jamie-

My favorite Halloween memory was also my first Halloween memory. It was the year, when I received my first mask. A white skull. I just thought it was the coolest thing ever, and couldn’t believe how fun it was to dress up and be something else. For some reason, out of all the Halloween memories, this is the one I love most. It was at the age, where Halloween was surreal, and starting to become very fun! This picture is with me and my two brothers.

My best halloween memory ? Wait a second that I think about it.

My best halloween memory would be when I was about 8 years old. That was the year that my love for horror movies began. I was alone, in my bedroom. I pushed the Power button on the small 13’’ TV I had back then. I turn it to channel 5 (which was named TQS at the time) at it was Scream 2 playing. I watched it. Then, the two following weeks, I went to the rental store and watched the first and the third one. Then it goes all the way until today, where I watched alot of horror movies and even some that almost nobody knows about. I would say that this is my best halloween memory.

It would be cool to win the mask !, It would make a nice 18th Birthday gift (as it is my birthday on November 15th)

well, it was a halloween party 3 years ago (before i gained weight). Me and my girl went to a club and we decided to just show up as ourselves with no costume (even though it was a costume party). We chose to play characters: I’d be the chick-magnet and she’d be the “girl who doesn’t want to be seen with me.”

Long story short, i got drunk (even though i don’t remember drinking any alcohol) and then security kicked me out and made a pass at my girl. The security dude told me he was throwing me out because of my “size” and that i should have paid DOUBLE the cover charge (because i occupied two seats) and so i got hauled off the dance floor as i was doing the running man.

After this unfortunate incident, i dumped my girl (not the other way around), and i started to gain weight for no reason. I have a pic of me and my girl from that halloween night 3 years ago (sigh happier times :frowning: ):

Ever since I can remember Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. While most kids looked foward to Christmas and the presents they would get, I would always be anxious for October 31st. Every thing about the holiday I loved: The decorations, the pumkins, changing of the leaves, the cool fall air that would give me chills, but most of all it was the idea of being somethign your not for one night of the year. It was fascinating to me, throughout the year the one thing that would never leave my mind was “What am I going to be for Halloween?”. I had a different costume each year but one thing stayed the same was that they would all be scary. I would thing about this from January first all the way up to October. Once late August came around my excitement really picked up, As soon as the local Party City got its Halloween stock in I would beg to go get a costume. Some people use the expression “Like a kid in a candy store”, well me in a Halloween store is equivalent to that lol. I would draw pictures of jack o lanterns, ghosts, vampires etc to keep myself occupied during school. Once the big day came I was always ready for it. At the school I went to, all the kids would get in their costumes and have a “Halloween Parade” around the school. It sounds silly but it was an exciting event at the time. As soon as I got home I would dash to the porch and watch my parents carve the jack o lanterns and drink cider. By then it was almost time for the big night. I would stand in front of the mirror with my costume making sure everything was perfect. Then the hour of trick r treating would come, the Jack o lanterns would be lit and I went door to door with my friends crying out for candy. There would always be many laughs and plenty of frights but one thing is for sure…
