I managed to make a clean DVD copy of the Halloween II TV Version for one reason…believe it or not I like this version better than the theatrical version. Other than the random out of sequence parts at the end when Jimmy falls in the blood after hearing the explosion, this version to me is much better. The extra stalking scenes (especially the stalking scenes leading up to Mr. Garretts death), extra dialogue, just the whole movie in general does it for me. What do you guys think?
I haven’t seen that one.
If you haven’t seen it, then you need to. One of the main differences is that Jimmy lives at the end. Here’s some screen caps of the extra scenes.
The Scream factory BR comes with a bonus disc of the TV cut…
In better quality too.
Yea, you can get it with the Scream! Factory release…
I saw it a long time ago, and remember liking it more too.
hmmm. I’ll have to watch it then. I have the scream factory blu ray with the bonus disk / tv version and just never have watched it. I just assumed the tv version was the same thing without the things they can’t show on tv. I never knew there were more scenes / major differences between the two.
Well, the Shout Factory Halloween II TV Cut is edited…you are missing about 2 minutes of footage I believe and is zoomed in. They actually had the chance to use my 1 inch broadcast master that Channel 9, WGN used to use but nope. Mine is the TV Cut is with count downs, proper fades and bump screens right from Universal.
Which scenes Billy? I own a copy taped from the source but haven’t really noticed any major differences
Is the Screen Factory or any version of Halloween II (TV version) in wide screen?
Where can I find a copy of the TV version of this. It used to be on you-tube but I cant seem to locate it. Any help would be appreciated.
I was REALLY disappointed with the TV release that Scream Factory did due to the edits as well.
Fortunately I had a good friend who worked as a quality control person at a major network and I have an actual copy DIRECTLY from the master the station used!!! It even has the “black outs” (for the commercials) fully intact, is in widescreen format and HD quality!
I’m HOPING that the H2 tv cut that is included in the 15 disc set that is coming out will be of the same quality…and hopefully with some unseen extras. Not holding my breath however.
I’ve never seen this version. Would love to check it out!
I’d like to know what the missing two minutes are exactly.
In my opinion, the television version of Halloween II is much like the Producer’s Cut of Halloween 6: an interesting look at some scenes that didn’t end up in the theatrical version, but nothing spectacular. In fact, I think the extra scenes make an already slow film even slower.
I did see a recent TV aired version that was in widescreen on Youtube. Sadly it was taken down.
That dream scene in which lil Michael has that cold stare to lil Laurie like he wanted to rip her a new one is downright creepy
