I had a great Halloween but Im letting a couple of negative comments negate it

Guys, I know this topic is exhausting, but I’ve been walking around the same neighborhood for 15 years doing what I do on Halloween. This is the first time I’ve heard comments as I walked by saying things like “Oh don’t be scared of him, that old lady killed him” “He died at the end of that movie why are you scared” Had two people take pictures with me and then tell me how awful the new movie was. Now, maybe they just wanted to vent out their feelings to someone dressed up, I dunno. But it was just disheartening to hear

Just knowing that movie killed some kind of spirit, and mystique about Myers to even a few people is depressing to me.

Damn, sorry to hear man

Those exact same statements could have been said about H20 back in 1998, and people tend to really enjoy that film. I think people’s jokey comments are just to mess around and try to be funny. You shouldn’t let it sink too low. The movie didn’t kill any spirit, it just gave casual fans something to joke about this year.

Don’t worry, because by next year, it’ll all be back to the same ol’ confused “Oh, it’s Jason!” comments we’ve heard a thousand times.

Oh that definitely was alive an well. I was even Freddy Kreuger once! That was new

I wouldn’t be too down on it man, probably just a fluke. I just had over 1000 trick or treaters between the haunted trail I do and the normal Halloween night Trick or treating and only had two people mention anything about the new movie. It was basically a non-issue.

The good thing was minimal Jason comments this year lol. Still had a few, but way less than usual!

The rest were business as usual. Lots of selfies, easy scares, etc. So I wouldn’t get too disenfranchised over it. Keep your spirits up.

Had someone (a dad) say to me “Halloween never ends Michael!” and cheered me on, that’s the spirit I love! The only other Ends related comments were a lady saying “When does Halloween end Michael?!” and a kid saying he saw “my” new movie. A lot of people realize that the Blumhouse trilogy is merely one branch of the series, and others only really care about the original but are aware of the rest.

I’m so glad I watched 1 and 4 at the end of the month (to me the only entries in the Shape/Michael part of the series that get it right), cleansed the stink of other entries from my mind (also watched 6 late but I was having a bad day so it colored my viewing a bit).

I dressed as The Shape when I went to see Halloween Ends and when it was over, this jackass in front of me was laughing and turned to me and asked me if I liked the film. I told him yes, I did enjoy it. He said he hated it, was $#!t, all that and he looked so proud of himself telling Michael Myers that he hated his film. I just looked at him bluntly and said said fair enough. He didn’t seem to happy with my answer because he seemed to want me to argue with him, but I wouldn’t give him the pleasure.

I had few negative comments as well but I think since the pandemic people just been really assholes or just like to troll. The lady had the nerves to say michael myers was pussy with little kids around. I just ignore dumb people like herself and keep it moving towards positive and enjoy life . I remember being 21 one minute now I’m 42 so time Flys so no time for ignorant people. Michael myers will always be my favorite since I was 9 year old watching halloween 4 still my favorite sequel for halloween movie

No worries at all, I think it’s more about people trying to laugh at all these days. I always have a good Halloween and 99% of the people enjoy having Myers around, it’s a classic!
Don’t let anyone take away your desire to have a good time!

Don’t let it get you down. There is always going to be someone out there trying to be negative, but don’t let that stop you from doing what you enjoy. It’s not like it is the first time he’s been killed off, either. Michael is timeless.

People always have snarky comments when they get excited and see a good costume.
I get it with my Kylo Ren cosplay, The Crow, and yes Michael Myers.

I wouldn’t let it get to you my man. They were probably excited to see your costume and wanted to say something “smart”.

This… This right here. Usually the average joe doesn’t realize how much a property or material means to someone if they’re going out of their way for screen accuracy or just max quality. Least of all with horror icons. The average person tries to be snippy and smart, even when afraid.

At the Halloween Carnival I went to on the 29th, there were all the snarky comments, especially from parents and kids who act unafraid. I still proved them wrong in the end, but point is that you’ll always get the snippy remarks and comments if your costume is quakity. There’s a dehumanizing quality to cosplays that makes it easier to be like that.

Don’t let it get you down too much. They’re plebs that don’t see artistry in costumes.

Hey. It got me a kiss though, so whos trash now random people???! Lol
But I see what you’re saying, there were probably 5 Michaels walking around and honestly no-one flinched at the others, so maybe mine did strike a nerve.

Anyone can dress like Michael Myers. It takes a special kind of dedication to make yourself truly The Shape. I get all the comments as well from folks when in costume saying that I look just like the movies or that I move just like him. Further, the behavior that I exhibit in costume is NOT someone dressed as The Shape, but as close to The Shape as I can get without getting arrested for it.

Im the same way. Im fully acting all night. Im sore when its over, and people probably think Im a jerk but Im just in character.

Fortunately I didn’t get any negative comments. People were genuinely afraid of my Ends mask. Many others wanted photos, hugs, and I got three pumpkin pails of candy. First time I’ve went trick or treating in almost 30 years. It was 65 degrees and partly cloudy here which is a nice Halloween for Michigan. This one was memorable for me. Just wish I would’ve brought a bigger treat bag.

Almost every person was genuinely terrified. It was the few comments that stuck with me

I had a few people mention how they disliked the new movie. I don’t disagree with them, but its not like I made the film lol

Luckily that was about the only negative experience I had this year. This was the first year where some 10-12 year old boys didn’t try to prove to their buddies that they’re “badasses” by being an asshole to the guy in a scary costume. Usually I get poked by plastic weapons, followed by groups of boys that “aren’t scared of me”, I’ve even had my ass squeezed MULTIPLE times. BY CHILDREN!!! It makes me so uncomfortable lol but luckily this year everyone was very well behaved.

Last year, this maybe 10 or 11 year old boy and his friend were following right behind me for about 10 minutes, poking me, trying to take my knife from me. Once I had had enough, I took off my mask and asked, “Do you two need help finding your parents?” The look on their faces  they were not expecting to see a 21 year old with a beard under the mask I guess. I’m just shy of 6 feet with my boots on, I imagine if I was taller I wouldn’t be messed with as much.

Kids are fucking assholes, yo. Having worked in haunted houses, it’s not the big guys that are hardest to scare. It’s old folks and kids. Old folks’ve seen it all in most cases. Kids haven’t seen enough, and typically go to haunted houses to prove how brave they are. Unless you are determined to Hell and back to make a kid cry, you’re not going to scare kids easily, and oftentimes they’ll say the damndest things. My most memorable was when some kid told me to “suck his dick”, in full view in front of his parents, multiple times, even gestured to his groin. It took me for a loop and I had to walk into the corn, take off my mask, and ask myself if it was worth the minimum wage plus rare tips to scare people like that. The answer was yes when I scared another kid like that to the point of pissing himself.

Busta Rhymes kung fu kicked Myers to death - it will never get worse than that.
