Oh Mike I am glad you finally stopped being a Testors tester!
Well smoking banana peels got old
Well I happen to like most of the Myers movies.
I know I am a bit late to the show here, but at first I disliked H20 since it dismissed everything that had been built for 3 movies prior. Then I just watched H20 for what it was and it is now one of my favs.
But no matter how many times I try to give the RZ myers a chance, I just can’t get past the cliched white trash family/broken home/animal killer angle. I mean its like Rob just opened the serial killer text book and shat out his Myers. It took everything away from the mystique of Myers and wrapped it up into one big logical sh!t sandwich. I still have not seen RZ’s H2. I was told to just watch High tension and picture the killer as Myers. That description in itself was enough for me.
I know its just my opinion but I love the Myers movies, just not his most recent re-imagined version.
It just makes me laugh when us members, who are supposed to be fans of the Michael Myers franchise, throw down hard on some of the movies. I just cracks me up. Fans…
I know that some of the films were not as good as others but it could be worse. There could be NO Michael Myers sequels at all. And for some of you guys that would probably not be a bad thing. I for one like to see the good points in the films. Whether it be the mask, a particular scene, or whatever. I guess I just try and look at the positive aspects of things. I am a Myers fan. 4LIFE
You can be a MM Fan but hate some of the movies. I’m a huge Myers fan but I am not a fan of most of the films. I love Halloween 1 and 2 and I enjoyed the 2007 Remake but that’s it.
It’s funny because I believe that virtually all the Halloween films have some solid elements to them but very few of them are actually good films. But yet I enjoy all of them, save for Resurrection.
There has been one beautiful masterpiece.
Yes indeed… I was born in 1983…my first Myers film was Halloween 4… My favorite is 1978… so I worked backwards… and im still VERY excited for 2018!! Love ALL of them!

I like most of them…Up till 6 and even then it got a little weird for my liking… But still love H6… H20 was ok… IMO H3 should of been its own movie…It would of done better…Michael myers is Halloween… Without him the title doesn’t work…And c’mon H8 was a total mess… A rapper performing fake Karate moves on Michael myers…More or less is a comedy parody instead of a film…Just ridiculous imo… But thats just my opinion…But doesn’t mean I’m not a fan because I think some films in the franchise flopped…
Woah, that’s sure one way to dig up a dead post! But yeah, reading through this the argument made by the poster is really fucking stupid. I enjoy all the Halloween movies, even Resurrection and H5 for how shitty they are, but some are definitely better then others.
First of all… I love both: Halloween and Michael Myers.
The franchise always released films with high quality (compared to other series)…
That’s why I’d prefer “H3 season of the witch” (without Myers) FAR
over RZ’s Halloween (using THAT kind of language, poor acting, awful dialogues)…
Over and out.
I think we all just want what’s best for Michael. ![]()

So we’re not fans of Michael Myers if we don’t agree with you? If we don’t like movies that diluted the character more and more, making him like the empty knock-offs that sprung up after H78? Don’t like the stupid family angle, the weak to terrible masks, the convoluted and contrived plots, the complete lack of suspense and atmosphere that are all hallmarks of The Shape?
I dislike a lot about the sequels precisely because I am a fan of Michael Myers. Less is more and the attitude that we should “be happy we’re getting more” has ruined numerous iconic stories that were meant to stand alone. I for one would love it if there was only H78 and that it was never followed up because it’s so perfect and can’t be equaled.

If a negative take is how folks feel about the sequels, why even bother with them? For example, I enjoyed the first Paranormal Activity, but have yet to see any of those sequels because I could care less, and feel that the first movie should of been it and done with. But no, they have like 5 sequels, and I can’t even begin to imagine how they are even remotely worth seeing when everything that needed to happen and tell the story, happened in the first one. The hell with those sequels, not even remotely interested in seeing those at all.
So in that respect I understand fully where folks are coming from, but the difference being I just didn’t bother with the sequels to Paranormal Activity. No reason to since I know none of them will live up to what I thought was a fine standalone found footage film. Same with Blair Witch, why even bother with it’s sequels, it’s not going to be on par with the original.
But when talking about the Halloween franchise, I love Michael Myers, the character, and for whatever reason, I enjoy seeing him in new stories and plots. Even the shitty ones. My desire to see Myers on the screen, outweighs the fuckery.
I guess my point is we are all fans in our own way, but why bash everything that came after it, if it doesn’t interest those folks, just don’t bother with them!
To each their own, we can be fans however we want to be. But why suffer through films you don’t think should exsist, the same as I don’t bother with sequels to the other franchises I mentioned? I think that’s why some fans get up in arms, because they don’t understand why those folks would bother with films they don’t want to see.
But it’s all good, not hating or bashing, just pointing out the fact that those folks don’t have to live in negativity over it, just say fuck the sequels and don’t bother to see them. But I am guessing the love of the Michael Myers character brings those folks to still see the sequels, so the passion is real no matter what.
The sequels to Blair Witch or Paranormal Activity didn’t ruin the first film for me at all. I just avoid them and watch the first films in those respective franchises.
Another example is Friday the 13th, the first movie was decent enough, but Jason is why I am a fan. And even when he takes over a boat and then spends 15 mins in Manhattan, I am down for the journey. Simply because I love seeing Jason on screen doing his thing, even in the shittiest of environments. Weird I guess, but that’s just how I roll.
Yeah it’s like everyone saying life sucks but nobody wants to die.
I only completely despise Resurrection and RZH2 and for good reason.

Preach My Brother!! I feel the same way because I simply ignore the first 20 minutes of Resurrection & how they explain it wasn’t Michael who got his head chopped off in H20! YES IT WAS MICHAEL MYERS AND I LIKE THAT ENDING!!
I prefer to look at resurrection like its a prequel to H20 rather than it being the sequel. ![]()
I won’t blame the stuntmen who portrayed Myers, they each did a great job and some masks do have potential.
I blame the cinematograper on how bad the later Myers look on screen and to the director for giving it the ok.
I think the members here take better pics of the H20 mask better than the film imo.
Same goes with the H4.Cool
Sucks…
Spot on!
I love Halloween because the first film is a classic. I love horror because I love film… and Halloween is a perfect storm of cinematography, mood, story, and iconic horror. That said. I’m not going to just say I love a movie because its in a franchise or has a certain look to it. Especially if it’s lazy and just a bad film.
I’m not going to magically wish away the plot problems, bad acting, and messy script in Part 3 because it shares a name with the series and it’s hip to say it’s good these days.
I’m not going to say I love 4-6 when most of the masks don’t appeal to me, the story is lacking, and it’s just a paint by numbers horror film. I mean if you truly know the history of these films and the slasher genre you must know that these were churned out in the 80s to grab at cash and not make any real lasting impact on film. I’m not saying they aren’t fun, and I don’t laugh and enjoy them… or hell that they don’t have a few cool parts. I love Donald in everything he did for the series… but they still aren’t good films. Hell, I love Jason goes to space for campy fun, but I would still criticize the choices made because I have a brain.
If you really want to defend some of the 90’s Halloween films I don’t know what to say other than that CGI mask my brother.
With Rob Zombie, I love elements of it. I find myself watching it from time to time, but he made a lot of stupid choices on top of some great ones. I’m happy it made a new generation take notice, and as with 4-6 I like a few elements of both of his films. Having Michael have an excuse to kill, making him talk, and making him a giant wrestler feels more like a director trying to be edgy in the sense of subverting expectations instead of telling a good story. If you want to make a mindless Jason film that’s cool… but technically slamming a remake into a prequel is just a shit idea.
I’m not worried about being considered a true fan by somebody that would make that distinction in the first place. People can enjoy what they like and how they like. Discussing films are fun. If you get angry or want to classify fans because you don’t understand a valid criticism you might be a bit too sensitive for the internet.
Just want to clear my position up here and apologize if I’ve offended anyone in this thread. I don’t care for the sequels but I don’t think less of anyone that does. I certainly don’t think you’re “less of a fan” for liking them. I don’t think of myself as “more of a fan” for passionately loving Halloween '78. We’re all fans of Michael Myers and that’s something that unites us. One of the reasons I’m so passionate about genre stuff is because there’s a unity fans share in their love of the material that crosses all boundaries and backgrounds. I’m sick and tire of political bullshit and constant arguments and petty disagreements in every facet of our culture today, so focusing on the bond we fans share is one of the ways I stay positive and relax. Let’s not bring that divisiveness to our fandom.
