And just think, an Evilution was going for around 700.00 earlier this week, lol.
Maybe if you list it as having “Artist’s Proof” it might move then.

Absolutely classic! Like the old Cosby show, “Kids say the darndest things!”
just overlook it. It doesnt just happen with masks, i sell classic car parts when i restore one, and sell extras, and people tell me " you can buy a brand new one for $125, why are you asking $300. Um because reproduction parts are not as good as the OEM originals. You just have to overlook it. Ebay is good for finding stuff that you normally wouldnt be ab le to find.
haha I know what you mean. You can set it to automatically reject offers under a certain amount. Although if you’re willing to listen to offers under what you’re asking you may as well just ask for that much to begin with… It’s better to not try to imagine whats going through peoples heads sometimes.
There everywhere, arent they?
I got a PM a couple days ago on HorrorBid about the Fredoras I sell, the guy who PM’d me said something along the lines of…
“This would be awsome except Freddy’s hat didnt have a ribbon around it, good luck”
I dont know about you guys, but to me, that came across as rude, why would you send me a PM just to tell me its wrong (which it isnt) I replied…
“Actually, in the first Nightmare On Elm Street film, his hat DID have a ribbon around it”
I never got anything back, not a “sorry”, not a “Oh I never noticed” which for me, confirmed that he sent me that PM just to be rude. If you’re gonna try and correct somebody, make sure you know what youre talking about.
That’s a simple thing to avoid. Just set up the auction to REJECT any offers below a certain amount. To me thats not even the annoying part of Ebay. YOU GET BENT OVER by the Ebay FEES… Listing FEE , FINAL VALUE FEE and then if you accept payment via PAYPAL your screwed there too. Just FORGET FEEBAY and sell it HERE. I would avoid selling a high dollar item there unless I am strapped for money. And with the way the economy is now… Good luck. Mike
tell that one member he can march his *** down to that halloween store he was talking about and get his *** a $50 cheap POS then.
and ask him why he’s offering $100 when he can get one for half that
then, show him the auction for the “artist proof” auction for a mask that was prob worth $100 that sold for $800
that should be sufficient
All I can say is that people are just boneheads and more than likely it’s just some punk kids sending you those ridiculous offers. If they really want to go down to the local Halloween store and buy those “high quality” masks, then let them.
James
You should learn the ways of the force and choke them to death through your monitor.
It is just plain ignorance, they are ignorant of the facts of the film, the different indy makers and the rarity of these masks. Stupidity is different, but ignorance is bliss! Dont let it bug ya chris, they dont understand it, it is very frustrating, but i agree with crofader, just kick em to the curb it will eventually sell to someone who knows about it and is informed on how hard it is to find this mask. They will also take care of it so you know you sold it to the right person.
Good luck bud!
Zach
I can understand that Ebay is frustrating when someone wants to sell a high-end indie Myers mask, but I think everyone here likes the Myers hobby to go ‘under the radar’ anyway, right? For lots of reasons…
I think most people don’t know these masks are pieces of art.
I think most people don’t care about masks as we do, for them, it’s just latex, they don’t know their value.
This.
That’s Brutal Chris,
It sucks because e-bay has so much exposure, so many people see your listing. But anyone who knows anything about these masks is part of this community.
It seems anyone on e-bay is looking for the best offer they can get, but offering less then 13% of the asking price is ridiculous.
all i’m gonna say is that there are worse things that can and do happen on eBay…
I somehow avoid all the chodes like that in the leatherface world.
Not to change the topic or sway the thread against eBay but I get MORE low-ball offers on here than anywhere. You really can’t always say they are kids or newbie’s too; if I post pics of my collection I will get email after email asking if I will part with things. Most are from members of this board who post a ton and are somewhat knowledgeable but want stuff for (My favorite question) “What’s the lowest you’ll go.” Gimme a break.
People will always be dumb, people will always be ignorant, people will make you question the lowest points of humanity
As sure as the sun will set and rise again, these people will always exist
Don’t even bother wasting the energy of a reaction on them, they’re just getting the best of you
The mindset on ebay is pretty simple, nobody on there is stupid enough to waste 800 dollars on latex no matter what it is, how rare or whom made it and for sure a non licensed mask. What has happen is ebay has had enough of you! They will no longer stand by watching people get ripped off from these stupid and crazy prices. (yes I said it rip off, it is no matter what you say)
