Dunno if this question’s been done to death or not, but I’m throwing my hat into the ring. I’m 5 feet, 7 and a half inches. I’m a little squatter than the typical Shape (look at any of my pictures in costume for reference). My boots typically bring me up to 5 feet, 8 and a half to 9 and a half inches. With 2.4 inch inserts, this brings me up to about 5 feet, 11 and a half inches, maybe 6 feet. Though I can’t say that my ideal Myers height is over 6 foot, I do know that people do like the height. So, tell me. What’s your ideal height for The Shape?

5’10 from what I can gather. Though some sources say that he was 5’11 and three quarters.
Would you say that this kind of frame with the 2.4 inch inserts would work?

Nick castle is 5’10 so thats the ideal height, think about it all the other guys that have played myers theyre doing a nick castle impression, his stance his posture his walk etc
I always thought that they were more trying to get Dick Warlock’s for the most part, who himself was basically trying to play Nick Castle’s Myers… but ended up being seen as too stiff and awkward by Debra Hill. Only the H20 actor and JJC seemed to ever really try to emulate Castle’s movements and mannerisms.
For me, the ideal height is anywhere from 5’10 to 6 feet. Anything over 6 feet, and you start getting into Jason territory, which is something these newer films have an issue with in my opinion.
Honestly, I hardly consider it an issue with JJC’s Myers over Tyler Mane’s, or any of the other sequels’ Myers. Tyler Mane brings a physicality to the Shape that… honestly… is rather well-nuanced. The way he doesn’t swing his arms. The way his stride just seems so smooth. Even something as simple as the way he turns his head before he goes in a direction. It’s all very much closely-related to Castle’s and Durand’s Myers that I can look past JJC’s height of 6’1.
Yes, I agree, JJC’s performance is good, but I was referring to his physicality…to me he just seems too “big”, as in stocky. I realize he’s an older man, but I prefer Myers to be slim, personally.
Honestly, the stockiness doesn’t bother me too much either. Michael’s shape is supposed to be average and plain. Most people tend to have a bit of stockiness to them. And even Nick Castle, being as lanky as he was, wasn’t terribly “slim”. He was slim, for sure, but he still had a certain stockiness to him.
But fair. A slim Shape adds more to the ghostly allure of his physicality.

So, then this begs the question. Do you think I lend myself to a decent physicality, and would be able to lend myself better with the boot inserts I have?
I think so, yes.
Well, with that confirmed, I’d like to at least make known what I think my ideal height and physicality for the Shape is. Anywhere between 5’9" and 5’11", and anywhere between slim and averagely stocky. I always imagined Michael as not really lanky, but more-so average. He’s not like Schwarzenegger who has a very distinct silhouette. Only distinctness to it is the mask he wears. Otherwise, his silhouette should be… plain, average, indistinct. Nick Castle does this well enough. But there is a certain lankiness to him that’s unique to him. Dick Warlock has the better body-structure for the Shape, beyond the head-shape imo. He’s very… plain, and while he is shorter, he is quite plain in his proportionality.
5’10 bare foot, 5’11ish with boost on, slim build, 170ish lbs. for me thats what makes him scary, not a bulky 220lbs 6’2 guy.

5’10"-6’4" is acceptable, especially since the right boots can help the 5’10"-5’11" actors look taller. 6’0" is probably a better sweet spot starter (especially given that the average height of men in the U.S. has risen since '78), but 5’10"-5’11".
I think these are heights that are realistic ranging from a little bit above average to imposing but not unrealistic or uncommon. The problem with the Rob Zombie version was while the size was imposing it ruined the “this could have been someone in your neighborhood” concept as 6’7" people are quite rare and can’t exactly fit in among a crowd; all the other Shapes (with the exception of some stand ins or possible stunt people like Deborah Hill) have fit within this height range (Mr. Warlock wore lifts to make it).
Normally I’d go straight with the Nick Castle height of 5’ 10" or 5’ 11" but seeing as I’m just about 6ft, I don’t think j could be intimidated by a Shape smaller than me. I think JJC’s height of 6’ 3" is absolutely ideal.
