Will do, I already got part of the back half of the mold finished printing. Just waiting on the front and the top to get done
Some friendly advice. There are some really nice websites and fb groups that dedicate their entire sites to mask/prop making, mold making, casting materials and many how to tutorials that you should check out before trying to mold a straight up print. These sites are a wealth of information where you can learn new stuff daily. I’ve molded 3d pieces for resin or to make a buck for vacform and let me tell you this. If you are wanting a Latex mask positive for hair and paint I feel you may be missing a few steps in your process. Once you have your positive print you are still basically at the beginning of your project unless I misread this and you are actually just making resin busts if that’s the case then you are going in the right direction and as Caleb said just keep following your dreams. It takes a lot of time and most importantly alot of patiance. Good luck man! I cant wait to see what you come up with.
Thanks and Im not printing the positive, Im printing the negative. Im essentially skipping the whole using plaster mess and going right into production and I am actually in the fb groups and I appreciate the advice
You’re going to brush latex into a 3D printed mold?
Yes sir pretty much
I wish you luck bud. Latex generally needs a porous surface to properly cure. You will be battling layers coming unstuck. Id definitely get the casting process perfected before taking any money on these, I feel you might be behind the learning curve.
Please read some tutorials. You are going to be very disappointed going about it the way that you are. You are going to need to put your print into clay form and mold that. I also agree with creepycustoms especially about not taking preorders and down payments. I don’t see how you can pull, trim, paint, hair, ship and sell with any profit margin at $115. You will defiantly be taking a loss on each order. I have a feeling you are thinking you can paint the OUTSIDE of the print and turn that inside out. This just isn’t idea by any means. We are all wishing you the best of luck on your project, but please check out some mask making and molding forums. It will help you more than you think. Good luck and remember there is nothing wrong with listening to sound advice.
Hello sorry for the late response I’m not on this forum often but im just gonna respectfully make myself clear if ya dont mind
- im not currently taking orders - its just how much i wanna sell it for when its done
- im not gonna paint the outside of a master and flip it - i made a whole mold where you have actually a negative, just like every other artist i look up to but its 3d printed instead of plaster
- and im actually apart of those mold making facebook groups and i do appreciate everyones advice
