This has probably been discussed on many occasions, but I’m too lazy to look. I know that they started out as “pink masks with blonde hair”, but then you have the thing with the eyebrows, and that weird looking backup mask seen in H6. What do you guys think?
No, they are not kirks. The school house scene and the KM kill mask are, but the rest are from their own mold of what is likely a recasted kirk. I spoke with a crew member who proactively mentioned that he remembered how they were made, but would not tell me how or further explain why he couldn’t. Based on at least looking at the H4 movie mold masks, we can see that it certainly originated from a kirk, maybe a clay pressing, but not a direct recast, as evident by the blown out features, lack of detail, different brows/deformed ears, etc.
Seems odd, if they had kirks on set then why make recasts instead of asking for more? And why were the recasts first finished as kirks and not myers?
