Is there a way to get rid of smoke smell?

Hi I just purchased a Myers mask listed as “new” off of eBay. I’m very happy with the mask itself but unfortunately the mask has an overwhelming cigarette smoke smell. I wiped out the inside with a wet wipe and lightly sprayed the hair with febreze. I’m going to let it sit for a day or two with a car air freshener inside but I was wondering if there was anything better I could do. Thanks! :myers:

The only thing you can do is let it air out. And it really needs to be outside to air out. Trust me man… that’s it. And it’s going to take several weeks even months.

you can wash off the nicotine with regular dish soap, palmolive, sunlight etc
I did this on a don post 80s skull, run the mask under cold tap water

take a damp paper towel and squirt some soap on it , rub it and get some lather
wipe it on the inside/outside of the mask. then wipe it out with a clean damp ppr towel

after your done leave a fan blowing inside the mask’s neck hole
instead of corn starch use scented baby powder inside

If it still smells do the same but use hand soap like dove/ivory and after soaping it up
use a mr clean magic eraser.

I did that on my Don post skull, it started brown 5-10 mins cleaning it was back to the minty white

I’ve gotten rid of moldy basement smells on masks by putting a few dryer sheets in a box with the mask and sealing it back up for a week or so. I’ve also thought about doing the same with the odor eater shoe things. If you can find the ones that have activated carbon in them I would try that. Activated carbon is used to remove the smell in hvac air systems so it could work the same. I’ve never tried it but always wanted to, luckily never needed to do with a mask smelling of cigarettes though.

We bought our house from a smoker, and even after scrapping off the acoustical ceiling, painting and cleaning, there was still some residual odor. We bought a bunch of activated charcoal bags from home depot and placed them all over the place while leaving all the windows open. After a few weeks, the smell was gone.

Accordingly, I’d buy some activated charcoal and place it inside the mask, while leaving it outside and shaded for a few days. That should do the trick.
