Does it bother people here on this forum when people (usually non-fans of the franchise) refer to The Shape as “Mike” Myers instead of Michael Myers? Perhaps it has something to do with my slight OCD tendencies but I get very irritated when I see or hear this. I literally have to correct the person concerned when it happens. I mean, it’s not that hard.
Yes, the full name of the Canadian actor responsible for one of my favourite comedy characters of all time is indeed Michael Myers, but still…

I’m honestly not surprised Jay. I haven’t gotten Chucky yet, but definitely Freddy and Jason. Don’t you just love when you are in the zone on Halloween night as Myers, and then someone comes along and completely kills the mood when they say “hey look it’s Jason!!” …I refuse to believe any of these people that do this actually watch horror movies

for the record, this is the earlier/original English spelling and I believe still used in the UK (someone correct me here if I’m wrong). It’s not a wrong spelling, just an alternate one.
If you think that’s bad, wait 'til you hear what the Dead By Daylight game’s community calls him…“stalky boi”. Honestly, that whole community is full of these young streamers that know nothing about the iconic horror film franchises the game’s playable horror icons are even from, let alone the characters themselves, and it’s just sad to see the cringey memes they make about them, such as the awful “shirtless Myers”. As far as they’re concerned, they were just made for the game, and that’s a shame.
I hate when icons like The Shape are diluted and turned into innocuous characters, such as the “Shirtless Myers” or those videos of people in costume and breaking out into a dance. Turns my stomach.
I have had a few folks call me by The Shape or “Oh man it’s the boogeyman!!” Which is really grate because it is the correct terms to say to someone having a Myers costume. That I don’t mind at all It’s other stuff that people blab out that makes me tilt my head backwards, lol.
I have seen this before. It’s simply terribly just…ehh… god awful in every way possible
As someone who actually plays Dead By Daylight or short for DBD, I main Myers. Yes, there is such thing as “shirtless myers/daddy myers” and so on, that is just the community for you. It’s part of the games.
