The majority of fans out there really didnt like rob zombies halloween 1 and 2…i for one liked 1 ok , but did not like 2. I thought tyler mane was a very good myers and i am a fan of the mask, but the acting was choppy…and zombies wife just is not a good actor in my opinion. Anyways…i have heard that there have been numerous story ideas for a 9th entry…and to me the one that makes most sense is bring myers back and have him go after jamie lees son (josh harnett) from h20 . The point here is that we are all ready to see myers on the screen again and i dont kno what the hold up is. Akkad said he would stop at 22…and i know he is gone now but hopefully his son will continue it as there is 12 more to go…if you count halloween 1 -8 and then robs 1 and 2. They will make money…lets get the move on hollywood…i have a great idea from start to finish but unfortunately i am just a nobody…ha
The words “Hollywood” and “Myers” just give me a bad feeling when you put them too close together…
I think it’s time to put the series to bed, there will never be another fresh new idea like Carpenter brought to the table, we know too much now, and “The Shape” is no longer a Mystery and never will be to any of us ever again.
There is always someone out there with the capability of making a good movie…whether or not that person ever direct a new halloween movie is a big ? . but with a good director and a few good actors…myers back on screen can be a big success…the story just need to be a good one and jamies son is still alive …so thats the start right there.
A huge reason the first movie was so refreshing and worked on a broad scale was the fact the cast were a bunch of unknowns and inexperienced at that and the movies director was barely out of film school.
Agreed I just don’t see it having the same nostalgic feel too it if they try it again… It just wouldn’t work like it did when carpenter was behind the project… Even if they did cast unknowns, there’s just no bringing back the magic of our favorite boogeyman… But I’m sure somehow, someway, it will find its way back on to the silver screen once again! So I wouldn’t stress to much about it 7smitty14!

I say start a new series and go back to the anthology idea presented in H3 or adapt the comics. Otherwise I’m not interested.
There were numerous moments in Resurrection where I thought this…but most especially when Busta Rhymes karate kicked Mikey. I knew I never wanted to see Halloween 9. I look at Freddy, Jason, Myers, etc. as the Creature/Wolfman/Dracula/Mummy of my (our) generation. It’s something I’ll always hold near and dear but just don’t see how they really translate into today’s culture all that well. The web cam aspect (for example) of H8 was rediculous…but that’s where we are today. Everyone is connected. Part of what made Halloween so scary was the isolation aspect of it. It only took a simple cut of the phone line to keep you from calling the police. Who the hell has a home phone today? Unless you continue remaking the series, I just don’t see how you can make a quality movie when all that was great about it doesn’t exist in our culture anymore…makes since to me but maybe I’m crazy. Just my thoughts.
if there is a will then there is a way. its my opinion with the right director …mike can be brought back in a big way. I dont mean going back to the beginning…just act as resurrection never happened . After all jamies son is still alive and mike going after him could be a direction they take the series. Harnett may not want to do another myers movie…but he is a very good actor imo. There are a few other directions the series could go as well…but all of us would go see the movie if it happened. Sure…there will NEVER be another movie as good as the original, but it would not be hard to make a new halloween movie that is better than zombies 2 movies and resurrection
I only liked rz’s films for the looks and tyler, the stories were a load of junk and rob’s wife sure has no acting skills. And seeing the fan films sticking with the original myers today is great, there was a post in the ninja clan in thinking of making a sequel to NOES and I don’t see any good potential in even doing it, if we were to have 12 more halloween films, we need to do it ourselves, rather than a big company taking the money and screwing it up for us true fans. H8 had a great score and mask, busta just killed it with his attitude and so called “Kung fu”
I can wait until one is done right. It shouldn’t be done to fulfill a contract or just to make a quick buck but should be done because they have something good in store.
Just this guy’s opinion but I could have been happy if they ended it after 2…he was scarier as just a crazy man that came back for his sister. Somehow surviving being blown up, shot to shit by shotguns, etc. made it unrealistic and just not all that great in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve watched them and found something to enjoy about all of them. I just think Carpenter had it right by saying he was dead and walking away after part 2.
I’d actually be ticked if it ended after 2 myself, the brother-sister thing and the ending went against key things that made H1 special to me. The Shape didn’t end up as just some escaped lunatic in a Halloween mask, he was something else, he was the boogeyman given form, had no motive, and could not be stopped. Whenever the series went against those key elements (II, V, VI p-cut) it really angered me; it was like saying The Incredible Hulk was just some guy hopped up on pcp and steroids.
I’m not happy the core series ended on VI, but it’s better than other possible outcomes (see Freddy’s Dead and Hellraiser IV).
I like Freddy’s dead for the powerglove and the main glove, also the comedy, sure the story was crap, but it’s still something at least.
I think that the series jumped way too many times. They could’ve of killed Myers character off after H2 and continued down the road with a Tales from the Crypt type of series. Different stories revolving around Halloween night and horror. Halloween III kinda started that.
Bringing back Myers time in, and time again had gotten old. The size of Myers. The different stories, etc. It just went too far. Kinda like the other big series have. Like Jason goes to Hell. Geez. Many people will always go see these movies. However, the mysterious killer of Myers is dead.
JMO that RZ’s movies were good. I think he did a great job. He evolved the story more. RZ’s remakes felt like Halloween night and I felt for the characters in those movies. I’m not saying that anything past HIII is bad. Fact is probably for the majority of us, we’ll watch those other Halloween movies and still get a kick out of them. For me though, nothing compares to the 78 or 81 movie.
Anything in hollywood is possible with the right story and director. Myers cant be killed and therefore you can always come up with a way to get him on the screen. halloween 1 and 2 were and always will be the best, 4 was decent…5 terrible…6 same as 5 and h20 was pretty good. halloween resurrection was good the first 10 min and then went south in a hurry. Rob zombies 1st one was ok and 2 was just plain stupid with the white horse thing goin on and his wife …too far. Tyler mane played a good myers. Someone just needs to have the balls to go back to what made 1 so good back in 78…suspense…dim lighting …MUSIC…and the element of suprise… All the blood and guts and gore kills these myers movies. We may never see this kinda myers movie again, but eventually we will see myers hit the screen again …
It’s a different era now though. I mean, reality is that they couldn’t create a 78 movie again. The cellphones alone changes everything in that game. They’d have to date the movie of course, like RZ’s remake did. I mean Annie would have her cellphone to call and get out of the laundry room, etc. Little things like that.
The main problem with horror now is the people in the films. I find many of them not likable whatsoever. I know that sounds terrible. However, it’s the truth for me. Bad acting and a “celebrity” never make for a good horror movie. I think that older horror movies will always reign supreme. They weren’t going for big dollar contracts and box office splashes. That’s why them older films are so good. Many find feelings for the characters in those films. RZ did bring that out in his 78 remake. I give him props for that.
As far as Hollywood goes. They make too many characters too big. Too strong. It’s just over done. JMO on that. I’d rather watch a guy 5’9" stalking teenage girls over some robotic monster man made up by Hollywood that doesn’t seem real to the eyes.
I’d simply rather go watch the Iguana with the Tongue of Fire or some other Giallo movie from the 70’s in my collection over paying 15-20 big dollars for another of the same type of Halloween movie.
To me, the issue is simple. They think they have to look outside the box, so they end up looking too far outside the box. I’d be happy with a basic Halloween sequel, prequel, remake, whatever, if they just kept the formula simple. It’s not about coming up with a new idea. It’s about executing the idea the right way.
Exactly. Michael burned up ALONG time ago. The Halloween series should have never gone the way of Friday the 13th with God-awe full sequels only for box office profits! They only care about money, not quality. The masks, acting and caliber of movies after H2 are beyond testament of what I’ve just stated.
another thing that was stupid is how much taller wilbur is than warlock…over a ft taller. i guess in the script somewhere while michael was in a coma for 10 years he grew a foot also. Halloween 4 was ok…but had the potential to be so much better.
as i have said in this thread already…michael can be brought back in a big way…but it will need to be someone who cares about the fans and at heart knows what made Halloween successful to start with. A throw together script to make a quik buck is not going to do it. I just watched rob zombies halloween 1 and 2 and there were parts in his 1st one i liked but his 2nd one was garbage…and it has rob zombie written all over it . Absolutr garbage…mike running around without a mask…grunting like he is trying to pass a giant tird every time he kills someone. H2 was ok the first 15 mins and was garbage from their. The whole white horse thing was a joke. How this script got approved is beyond me. I also watched the conjuring yesterday and for all the hype about how good it is and scary…well i laughed more than i did anything in this movie. Save your money… We just dont have many good directors in hollywood these days. I dont want another myers movie until someone will watch halloween 1 one thousand times and get it in their head that if they really want it to be successful…then they are going to have to base it off the original and what made it so good.
