H2 is pretty damn horrible. It’s sci-fi channel world premiere horrible.
The editing is probably its biggest downfall. The movie had no cohesion and feels like random scenes (from other movies) thrown together. I had thoughts of H6 while watching this crap. If I didn’t know any better I would have thought Joe Chappelle edited all of this. It’s that disjointed. There are so many details this movie skims over it’s unbelievable. I guess I was supposed to buy all the stuff that’s happening but most of it happens in such a stupid half-ass way I just couldn’t. Is Laurie throwing up because Michael is eating a dog or is that just a random scene in this dumbfuck film? Am I supposed to accept Laurie doesn’t know anything about her family in a year’s time since the murders? No cops or reporters have done any digging whatsoever? Or is this just a lazy plot device just to make Laurie lose it? Michael and Laurie having the same visions. WTF is that all about? Just more random bullshit. Loomis being another example. The way he just shows up in the end trying to be the hero is mind-numbingly dumb in its execution. Not only does he practically teleport to the location but NOTHING about his character in the entire film even gives a hint as to why he would suddenly have a change of heart. The movie is just made up of half-ass shit like this. And in between is a lot of nonense. It’s H6 all over again.
The characters - Laurie annoyed the hell out of me in RZH to the point where I was hoping Michael would kill her just to shut her up. Well, let’s just say that feeling didn’t go away. That whiny, nails on a chalkboard crying/scream is still there and doesn’t endear me to her at all. Loomis. Well, there’s nothing much to say about him that hasn’t already been said. He’s irrelevant to the film really. You could cut out his role and it wouldn’t make a bit of difference. Mama Myers and Little Michael? The same goes for them as well. The rest of the characters were pretty much set up to be tipped over like dominoes. Annie didn’t get nearly enough screen time unfortunately because she and Lee Brackett were the only tolerable characters in this film. A few more scenes and I may have even gotten invested in those characters which brings me to my main gripe with this film.
H2 has decent ideas in there somewhere but the execution of everything is beyond stupid and cliche. I used to be very forgiving about the horror genre but now I’m holding these new blood directors to a higher standard. Why? Because they have the blueprint for success. They’re fortunate enough to have seen the hacks that have come before them and not make the same mistakes. So imagine my disgust when I see a character being set up to be killed because he has to take a piss. Seriously? That’s fuckin insulting man. I had to draw the line there. If I’m a serious filmmaker and I’m actually trying to make something good the “I gotta take a piss” scene is NOT making it into my film lol. That’s Uwe Boll hack-worthy, lazy dumbfuck territory. The worst part of that scene is it has absolutely NOTHING to do with advancing the story. Michael has no reason to be there but to kill these two idiots. That’s 5+ minutes of screentime that can be devoted to developing one of the main characters further or making this movie more cohesive. H2 is littered with scenes like this (Rabbit in Red) and it’s disappointing. Like I said before, after 20+ FUCKIN years of this cliche garbage do we have to see it again? Is it asking too much to put some of these characters in some situations where they’re not just fodder?
The only positives I can really come up with for this film are the Bracketts. Annie’s death was handled great and Dourif was pretty good and made me thank GOD anytime his character was on screen. That’s about it though. The rest is just forgettable.
Felt that way in part 1, she was the ONLY thing I didnt like about the first. She was a TERRIBLE choice for Laurie.
I actually went “AWWWWWWWW!” when she woke up from he dream of getting killed by Michael. I actually thought my dream was going to come true early in the movie. Boy was I wrong. They killed off Danielle instead…FAIL!
I wanted so bad to love it, this film by far is the absolute WORST of the entire series--------- period.
H6 was better than that! Yes I said it, I liked H6 better than RZ H2! The editing sucked, no REAL story, what was up with the rabbit in red?
And Loomis, UGH no way! Terrible.
I hope Rob Zombie reads these, DUDE you have such a great taste in films, I have seen your collection, VERY IMPRESSIVE! but you SUCK!
Every film does not need your wife, you just threw in that part cause you wanted her in the film, and the white trash thing comes up again, dude GIVE IT A REST PLLLLLLEEEEAAAAAASSSSSEEE!!!
Rz’s H2 has several elements which i didnt care for but worse than H6? no way. there will never be another Halloween as bad as H6 or H8.
tyler’s performance as michael is leaps and bounds above george’s P. W’s fat frumpy ass.
i didnt care for michael being in a gang or “cult”, and by H6 donald pleasence was not very effective and didnt help the film out any just by his presence in it.
by the time its gets to the scene where Michael’s goons come in on loomis and tommy, the film skips where they just wake up and are liked, “we’ve been drugged”
now that was a sorry peice of shit Halloween.
just my opinion ofcourse.
Exactly. What made the original Character so scary was the fact that he wasn’t freakishly large in size. When your as big as RZ’s Myers, you can expect bodies to go flying and major carnage to take place. But when you see Dick Warlock, a rather smaller Myers, stab the nurse in the back and raise her off the ground, you are petrified at the strength and brutality that is contained within a rather average sized person. Much more effective than having a 7 foot tall barbarian running around in a hospital crushing skulls. Save the size for the Friday the 13th character.
Heh, when i see Dick Warlock, i’m impelled to look behind him for his wind up key or batteries - he walked like a robot, not a very good portrayal of Myers to be honest, nothing like Castle at all. Where as Tyler, in my eyes, has it down - fluid movement, non restrictive, no dead Zombie like actions.
