Jamie Lee Curtis auctioning off signed 'Halloween' mask

Does anyone know anything about this?

Am I missing something here? That’s an '06 Don Post Deluxe Myers. Isn’t it? “Incredibly Rare” is about as opposite as it gets. It’s also in horrible condition.

Curtis was only 19 when she played Laurie Strode in John Carpenter’s classic film and she still has a lot of keepsakes from the set, including four masks worn by killer Michael Myers. Now one of them is going under the hammer to help the actress raise money for the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

That’s so false, it’s not even funny. That mask didn’t exist for almost another 30 years.

Estimated value of $10,000??? lmfao

funny there is a bid of 4k lol…

Someone with zero knowledge of what this mask actually is will be going for one expensive ride.It repeatedly states that it’s from the original film. That is just horrible. They should be contacted and made to correct that before someone gets taken.Charity shmarity if there is false information like that spiking the bid way beyond what it should.Whoever bids on this is insane.Even if you wanted to add up what all of the autographs are worth, plus the mask, plus the chance to have them all on one item AND add in that it’s for a good cause? The absolute most mind-blowing bid should be $500.The fact that it’s already over $4,000 and that it’s based on false information is nothing short of criminal.

While I was reading the article I didn’t realize there’s an actual link to the auction. Now that I see it, my God!! What the hell is she thinking?? I was confused at first to read that she might even have one of the masks from the first and thought damn could this be true?? This auction is awful haha.

I sent the auction site a message telling how misleading the auction is and what the mask really is…doubt it will do any good :frowning:

:frowning:

Pretty insulting. So she got it in 06 & had everybody sign it?! I would much rather have the clapboard, myself.

I just heard the people on the radio talking about this.
Gonna be 1 expensive discussion piece and embarressing for them when they find out what it really is.

Jesus…even this response is in denial

My reply to that:
That mask has nothing to do with the movie. It’s a Michael Myers costume mask that was manufactured by Don Post/Paper Magic Group before they went out of business in 2012. It was licensed to Don Post/PMG by (omitted) who own the character. You can still find them in costume shops like Spirit & Halloween Express. The fact that you’re advertising it as a piece of “film history” is atrocious. It’s no more a piece of film history than a toy lightsaber that you can buy at Target is a piece of Star Wars film history.

Honestly, I think everyone should message the people running the auction and let them know the truth.

Agree!!! :open_mouth: :smiling_imp:

Anybody notice the Winston H20 she’s auctioning? Looks like shit, covered in autographs, but looks legit?

They should have closed the auction down after realizing what they actually have instead of changing the description mid auction. Restart it with accurate information. That sucks for those uneducated people who bid because of what they read in the original description.

I certainly hope people can cancel their bids on that site…

 :axe: :axe: :axe: :axe: :axe: :axe: :axe:

I’ve lost ALL respect for Jamie Lee Curtis.

I agree that the untruthful claims needed correction, and it seems some of your voices helped to change that. The information appears to be corrected now. In any case, one should be responsible enough to research & know what they are investing into with a large sum of their own money.

Most likely it will be the winner’s intention of giving to a positive cause to help children, not buying an item, anyway. Some of you may be forgetting this. Though I have my doubts about the transparency of charities & “cure” foundations, where all donations are specifically routed, the general concept of the auction is to help children. And if the winner is truly interested in the secondary exclusives, they are receiving a one-of-a-kind piece of memorabilia owned by the original actor & autographed by a multitude involved. Regardless of the physical properties, the personal history & prior owner would make any item rare & collectible.
