I guess the word “neutral” is not in some members vocabulary, it’s either one extreme or the next but anway, why wouldn’t he send it to Terry as far as I see, Terry would have been clearley with in his range to do what Jay asked of him as far as we knew at the time.
this does raise an interesting question. God, there are so many unclear points in this situation. I truly do hope some clarity is brought soon…
But I agree, if i was the owner of a mask that valuable, there is absolutely NO way i would send it to another mask maker. I would have, without question, sent it to someone who restores props professionally. Now, I do have this question…
Was the Jay Allen Kirk project Jay’s idea? Or…was it pitched at him by Terry? Because if so, that was a very early red flag.
Jay mentioned he had a buyer for it,so im guessing he went to Terry with it before it would be gone…make some extra dough off it,and get a copy of project mask at least to take its place. seems logical
Ya I figured the same tho I think jay might have denied knowing about the project to begin with. Tho I know he had a buyer for it tho if that was my prized possesion that I looked for for years I wouldn’t sell it. That’s for sure
To answer your question which I think I did answer in my first post. I was selling my mask, the neck needed repair work and I wanted it to be FOAM FILLED to preserve it. Terry wrote to me when he had my Kirk and asked “if he could take the hair off it was getting in the way”. I knew the only reason to take the hair off was to make a mold off it. At this same time I was learning what he did to NightOwl and recasting. I knew and others told me Terry would make a illegal recast of your mask and make thousands of dollars of it. I tried to protect myself of this and thats how the JA75 came about. As far as why did I send it to Terry? Guys told me Terry would do a good job on it. I asked around and his name kept coming up and of coarse I had no knowledge on shady business practices until after I sent it out.
Does this situation remind anyone else of the movie by Clint Eastwood called “Changeling” ?
Jay I can totally understand why you sent it to terry.Alot of people here spoke of him like he was the freakin KING of mask making.Im telling you though, If the members here that knew he had a shady character would have spoken out about it earlier this might have been prevented.Even if you were not a member on this forum the word would have gotten around to you about his questionable character.I do not think we need to shun someone who speaks out about a bad experience with any mask maker.Even if the mask maker he has had 1000 good deals its always good to know about the bad ones.Now everyone talks about how he is the king of recasting and everything else.It would have been beneficial for everyone to know this earlier!!!
UH, things were said about CGP as to his shady character, but they were quickly deleted, and some people were banned because of it.
That’s what i don’t understand, it seems some are subliminally pointing the finger at Jay for sending the mask to terry as if that was wierd because Terry’s supposed expertise didn’t lie in filling, but it’s like at the time why wouldn’t he have reason to ask Terry to do it when everybody, INCLUDING many of the ones that are now saying something different were acting as if he was the second comming. I still do not understand the “featured artist presents” idol worship that goes on in this board, I don’t know why the name would be bigger then what was being sold.
I’m fairly new to the community and I must say those before and after pics are DISGUSTING. Made me want to throw up in my mouth 
Jay it seems you were compensated b/c CGP is outta business so things worked out in a strange way for you. I was really glad when I decided not to order that warlock SE a month and a half ago from Terry. I had the email confirmation $$ ready to go then I started researching all the people who were waiting like 6 months for a mask and some never even got a email back…WTF… Well I made the right choice

They were bought by Joe at Night Creeper Studios. Joe is a very nice guy who has a very good reputation on the board.

He committed to helping Terry get out all his outstanding orders as part of the sale of CGP’s molds.
Hopefully, he’ll get those out soon, which will be a wonderful display of good faith and then you can feel comfortable getting that Warlock SE.

What I can say is that I’ve never heard of a single issue with Night Creeper Studios or seen a negative review in the Feedback Forum.
Personally, I’ve bought a few masks from them and never had a problem. So, hopefully that service record will continue with the new company in spite of the fact that they bought molds off CGP.

Matthew - I know what you’re saying…and you and I both know the “caps” thing. But, some people DON’T know all about Internet etiquette or what typing in caps means. I mean, I for one didn’t know about that until a couple years after using forums. Maybe the person posting wasn’t aware…
I can definitely back Jay up on this. A couple years ago I had Terry rehair a Psycho for me and he estimated it would take about a month to finish because he was doing a very special project…restoring a 75 Kirk for someone. Of course that caught my attention and I was basically in awe, lol. It didn’t seem like that big of a stretch to me because I had him restore a mask for me and he did an exceptional job. He and Kelly Mann were always the first guys I’d go to when I needed something repaired due to several successful transactions.
Jay, I’m sorry you had such a bad experience but you have handled it with class. MUCH better than I would have been able to.

A little bump just to remind everyone what jay allen went through. How Terry could still be a member here is beyond me…In most situations you would be in jail for stealing something worth $20,000.
