John Carpenter confirms this is the last Halloween sequel

I’d only accept an end to the Shape saga if it were perfect, and I highly doubt this will be that film. May be the last Carpenter is involved in. I do want to see more original Halloween III style entries though.

He has died or heavily implied dead in five previous films. No matter how definitive it seems, if it revitalizes the franchise, he’ll come back. :myers:

I hope they never end in my lifetime. If they kill him off 100% then it will be a sad ending. They have to leave a chance that makes you wonder. As a devoted fan since 1978 the constant hope for another movie is part of the hobby for me. I hope I can enjoy this one as much as the first two.

I understand where you are coming from, but thats what will make the film impactful and give the halloween franchise a legacy, if they just keep making these movies over and over being more watered down than the last the halloween franchise will not be as special anymore it will just seem dragged out and dull. killing Michael Myers will have an actual affect on people when they leave the theater, they wont just be thinking ‘‘hhh, he’s not really dead they’re just going to make another one’’ and you aren’t really left with a closure.

Killing Michael is the worst possible thing they could do. I can’t tell you how enraged, sad, sickened, and whatever else I was when I saw the ending of H20 in theaters. Although H20 as a whole is a decent movie, the ending absolutely kills it for me. I hate it. I hate it. Literally, I would rate the H20 ending as the worst in the entire franchise because I hate it so much. Michael should have killed Laurie in H20, not the other way around.

As for this, I’d much rather they gave us an ending that’s similar to H1.

if its anything h20 did right its the ending  they had the balls to kill there cashcow and end the franchise once and for all, Laurie killing Michael was awesome, she’s the main character she’s the one we want to see get away, and she defeats Michael once and for all and it concludes the story of halloween. think what you want…even tho ur wrong

Amen.

Will it really be the end? I doubt it. As Tommy said in '78 “you can’t kill the boogeyman.”

The way I look at it, Michael Myers is a legend. He’s a legend of movies, he’s a legend of horror, he’s a legend of the holiday of Halloween as a whole.

I don’t think letting a legend die is ever a good thing, and more so than that I don’t think a legend will ever be allowed to die.

John Carpenter created a legend that still sends chills down our spines while watching the original. Many have tried, but none were able to replicate what Carpenter did in 1978. It is only right for him to pick the story up from where it left off and to end it however he sees fit. There isn’t a scene in the original that I don’t love and it makes my girlfriend jump more than the goriest movies you could think of. I am excited and can only hope the Hero lives up to that of the original. It is an honor to have John Carpenter take this on and give us this treat, I can’t wait.

I second this, JC has created IMO one of the best horror Icons to date. I’m extremely hyped for this next film after seeing H40 multiple times I was not disappointed.

Well it’s confirmed that Carpenter is ready to score the next sequel, so the purpose of this threads topic is out the window lol.
