What do you guys make of this? Will this truly be the final sequel? Perhaps Carpenter only agreed to return under the presumption that he would be able to finally and truly end things. Honestly, I hope to God this isn’t the case as I’d love to see the series continue forever. But maybe a few years after the dust settles from this one they can reboot once again? How do you interpret what was said here?
I know Moustapha would never settle for permanently ending the franchise. Hopefully Malek doesn’t either, though I have considerably less faith in him than I did his father.
Agreed. If it is a flop it could be the last one but I doubt it will be (a flop). If it makes money no one will quit milking the money cow and as long as the movies are GOOD, I’m alright with this.
It couldn’t possibly be worse than Resurrection or RZH2. We finally have a competent filmmaker behind the camera, John Carpenter putting his 2 cents into the story AND scoring the film, Jamie Lee Curtis back in presumably a major role, and a return to the real Michael Myers. The only way they could screw this up IMO is by either killing Michael in a permanent way or doing something that would go against the very foundation of the series.
why, because they have the guts to kill there cashcow and end the franchise once and for all and go out with a legacy, and want to stop the milking of the franchise until it becomes so dull.
There’s a way to continue on with The Shape but not Michael. The key to the idea that what happened to Michael wasn’t isolated is in the original film. I could also see the Halloween name being used for an anthology like Carpenter intended.
For me personally, I really hope its the the last one as long as its a direct sequel from Halloween 78. Truthfully I didn’t like any of the sequels , except for Halloween 2 of course. Didn’t care for part 4, 5, 6, H20, resurrection and the awful Rob Zombie Halloween movies. Having Carpenter close the series would be perfect. Let the man who created the Shape, end it.
Man, I would be absolutely heartbroken if there was never another Halloween movie. At the very least, I don’t see why another reboot in 2-3 years would be totally out of the question. This one almost certainly will be a success, so just ending it makes no sense, especially monetarily, which studios are all about.
