John Carpenter HalloweeN Interview

I’m not sure that there is anything here that hasn’t been read or said before, but I enjoyed watching these. I was surprised as Carpenter seemed to have been actually interested in the interview instead of his normal “I’ve answered this questions 6,000 times before” attitude. I like the parts where he commentates on the scenes of the film. Reminds me of the Laser Disc commentary which is a great watch if you haven’t seen it.

This certainly is one of the better interviews about the film. I think it was done in 2000, and it really shows how he speaks about the backstory and how indeed it is scarier when nothing is force-fed to the audience about explaining it away - something the remake and most movies today totally lack.
Thanks for posting this!

I saw this a year or 2 ago!

Awesome… The original
cannot be touched!

Agreed.

When you explain how the magician does the trick or why the monster under the mask does what he does…you lose the essence of the unknown which is vital with Myers.

Clive Barker once said something to the effect (loose powerphrase):

He (Michael Myers) doesn’t operate under the same set of rules as you and I. He doesn’t have a sense of morality or empathy, his thoughts and intentions are unknown, he is the Shape. You can’t beg for mercy or play on his emotions, he has none…this is why he is terrifying.

I like how he described the scenes and how he used different camera angles and shots for the film. Thanks For Posting.

SAID PERFECTLY BENNY.
