I know that this perhaps will not happen, but what if …
… John Carpenter & maybe some of the old crew (Tommy Lee Wallace, Dean Cundey, …) would do another / final HalloweeN Movie !? I mean John Carpenter got famous into the Horror-Genre with the GREATEST Movie of ALL TIME, HalloweeN. Why not making one last Movie ?? Carpenter started the HalloweeN / Myers thing, so why not ending it ??
I also think that John still got it. His last "Big-Screen-Movie’, THE WARD was very well done. That Movie got great Old-Shool Horror-Elements in it.
What do you think of it ?? Could this be a new GenerationClassic like the old one ? Or imagene Carpenter do a new Movie with a new character / killer like Michael Myers !!
Everybody here on the board should send an e-mail to John. Maybe it would work
Carpenter wants nothing to do with the Halloween name. He divorced himself from it because he was forced into doing a sequel to what was supposed to be a “one-and-done” with Halloween. Jamie Lee tried to get John involved for H20 back in '98, but of course, he refused. You don’t need John Carpenter to make a good Halloween film. You just need a team that has a creative and collaborative drive. Look at how well Halloween 4 did. Despite those who may feel otherwise about the mask, the movie was a hit, and for good reason.
Incorrect. Miramax offered 1 million to John, 1 million to Debra and 1 million to Jamie to make Halloween H20. John said that he wanted more and asked for a back end deal. Miramax said no. Both John and Debra thought Jamie would hold out for them but Jamie didn’t and John and Debra left the project leaving Jaime with 3 million dollar paycheck for Halloween H20. That became a sore spot between John, Debra and Jamie for years.
Yes, Halloween 4 was a hit because there was enough time between the “Myers-less” Halloween III and enough new fans that wanted to see a “Myers” film. Sadly, it was just xeroxing the exactly same formula from the previous 2 first films and when they tried adding a different dimension into the mix, Halloween 5, the movie didn’t do well and the series kept sliding downward until Halloween H20.
I know that John Carpenter said that he wants nothing to do with HalloweeN, back in 1998 when H20 was released. It’s on severall docus. But hey, time has changed and in my opinion everything can happen
For me, NOBODY can touch John Carpenter when it comes down to Horror Movies. Case closed.
Back in 1998 I interviewed Bruce Dickinson at the Chicago House of Blues on his solo tour. He stated without hesitation there would be no reuniting with Iron Maiden. Not even 2 years? later Maiden was touring with Bruce at the helm. Anything is possible.
I would be curious to see a Quentin Tarantino take on it myself. I know he at one time had a rough script written or something to that effect/loosely involved. I think if he get together with somebody like Oren Peli, i think it would stand a chance. Don’t show too much of the mask so often. To me, it would blow anything between H5-H7 out of the water. A couple of B&W scenes or a few filmed in 16mm & keep the score simple etc etc. Maybe even call it “The Babysitter Murders”…Maybe.
