There is something that really bothers me about a few members on here. I know this is none of my buisness, but I thought I would just speak my mind. Anyway, I will get to the point. A few members that I have made transactions with have really suprised me on how far they will go to get their vision of the perfect Myers mask. I won’t mention any names. One member that I sold a mask to earlier this year just had lost his job and had didn’t have a steady flow of income comming in and had a family of 5 to some how try and support, not to mention an over-drawn bank account. This guy still manages to go as far as pawning his car title to buy my mask and end up selling the mask 2weeks later for 300.00 cheaper than I sold it to him. He mentioned in his classified ad that he needed quick cash for his little girl’s birthday party, I later discovered he was selling the mask to buy yet another mask. WTF??!!
Here is another more recent transaction by another member, same type of situation. A guy with a family, not in the best financial situation right now, and has an obsession to obtain a screen accurate H-1. This guy wants a Myers mask so bad he is willing to over draw his checking account and risk his family’s Christmas in order to get that most wanted piece of latex in his collection.
What the Hell is wrong with people? Are these people so immature that they would put a mask over their families? If so then, they should have never brought those children into this world if they are not gonna “man up” and take take care of their families. The holidays are comming up and I really ticked off about this subject. Don’t get me wrong, I have quiet a few high dollar masks in my collection, but my family WILL NEVER do without in order to get a mask I want.

WOW, Well spoken! Some people are ignorant, I know I would never let my family go without just for a mask, I would give up collecting before my family went hungry, needed clothing, surgery, etc. That is just plain pituful.

but im willing to trade and sell a few masks juss to got my GF a nice present. i mean people mean more to me then masks…idk whats with people but hey man, thats why we’re all different. its juss life

You would be surprised. I just now started collecting mask and have a couple in mind but I’m waiting until next week after we do all of our Christmas shopping. Ive been wanting to purchase a mask for about a month now but I put it off because more important things came up. Gonna purchase my first one Monday but my family is taken care of.

I hear you man. Let me tell you I myself have many masks in mind that I would love to own. But as I live check by check it is impossible to do. I provide for my family and most tomes that’s all I can do. The idea of choosing anything over them sickens me. Great post indeed my friend.
Quiet honestly, I do agree with you Jon. I am just hoping that a few people read this( hopefully the members I am referring to) and maybe think about what they are doing hopefully make things right. Maybe a few of the newer collector’s could sorta see how addictive this hobby is and know the problem signs to look out before it’s too late. This is an expensive hobby and if you are not careful it could easily get out of hand. I am a strong family oriented person and really thought this post would prove useful and get a few people to thinking and perhaps help get their priorities straight in life. This thread was created to bash anyone, it wad created to help a few people realize that a family is something that is priceless and I don’t want to see this hobby to a factor in possibly putting that beautiful gift that God gave them in jeopardy.
Did you ever think maybe he was just feeding you a bogus sob story to try to get a better price? I’ve learned the hard way that you can trust very few people when it comes to this hobby.
I’m glad I started collecting now, when I’m only 14. I can save up my money and blow it on whatever I want and not have to worry about anything besides my mom telling me I’m crazy(and I’m not rich). I knew people would go to great lengths to get a mask, but hearing that is kind of a shock. I hope a hobby never gets a hold of my life like that.
Whats up Tony… Yeah man i have to agree with Jon. Nobody is perfect & you worrying about how others live there life is not going to do you any good. Who cares what others do that is beyond your control. I mean there are people selling babies for crack. Alot of these people might be embellishing their stories to you just a touch. I can see where your coming from but do not see it from your point of view.
Tony, this sort of thing happens with so many aspects of life, and not just mask collecting. It’s hard to see other people feed personal greed over protecting their family’s well being. I’ve seen it in a few people I know. It’s not cool, and people really do need to get their priorities straight. It’s nice to see people like yourself concerned about others, but it’s difficult to point out to people their short-comings. I know I’m guilty of giving into the temptation of buying something on a whim, but then I realize that I have a wife, a boy and a new house to take care of. So for the time being, I have finished collecting myself.
I hope that people, especially with the holidays approaching, will set things straight, but you can’t change what they’re not willing to…
I think your second post should have been your first one.I know what you mean and where your coming from,but people will feed you a line of bs to try to get a better price or whatever.I know collecting is addictive ,when I first started I was buying way to many masks but I could afford it at the time.Here lately I have not made a significant purchase.Family will always be first priority in my book.
