Just saw H2 for the second time....

Amen brother!

Well, I’m not a fan of how Dr. Loomis was written in Rob Zombie’s movies

This seems to be the most maligned aspect of H2, RZ seemingly pissing on a beloved horror hero. My take, not that you asked  , would be we’ve seen heroic Loomis done so why do it again? What RZ did was take an almost 2 dimensional characterization and put some more flesh and flaws on him, making Loomis a tad more accessible IMO. We can all identify the high profile psychologist who does the talk show circuit trying to cash in. In that regard RZ made Loomis more a product of our time, not that this didn’t occur in the 70’s, but now all these docs seem to have their own talk shows, media brands, etc.

Also, we get Loomis with more personal struggle that has less to do with his “good vs. evil” fight with Myers. Loomis, having to deal with his own failures in curing/containing Myers, makes Myers into a sellable commodity. And throughout the film we see the contempt Loomis feels for this and those in the media who routinely exploit such tragedy. Loomis’ final confrontation with Michael was not so much a selfless act for the sheriff and the people of Haddonfield as it was a chance to acquire his own redemption.

But, if you want Loomis a staunch hero all this means BUPKISS and you’re gonna dislike H2
.

Well I have seen it Three times. The first time I didnt know what to think. (I loved the first one instantly) This one I had some issues with a few things.

1.Wish the hospital HADNT been a dream sequence, but its probably one of my fave scenes in the series, if not my fave.

2.The ghosts, I hated just how much they were in it. I think the idea was there but execution not so much. I also did NOt like little myers this time. wish they would have made him wear the mask WAY more or ALL the time.

3.I thought the ending in the shack seemed a bit rushed. I also thought it was a mistake to make laurie walk out with the Myers mask on, it just looked goofy…he could have just made her walk out holding it.

On second and third viewing, I love the film. those issues still irk me and I wish the mask never got ripped.

the minor gripes and things I would have done differently dont irk me too much as I know Rob and everyone were rushed on this. Here is hoping there is a directors cut with Plenty of character and scenes put back into the film.

My second fav. Halloween movie. My first being the original (of course lol).
