Just used 303 protectant Spray, my experience

Hello, I just used the aerospace 303 protectant Spray on two masks. One being a tots h6 that was feeling a little stiff after 4 years and a new tots Halloween 2018 mask. The results are great, my Tots H6 is now more flexible than it used to be and if what ghostrealm was saying about it restoring moisture to the masks, then it definitely did that as the insides of both masks feel smoother, heck with the 2018 mask it felt like it was putting in moisture that wasn’t even there. So, from my experience, hopefully this will help you decide whether to use this product or not.

I’ve been on the fence about this so thanks! Just wonder about the long term effects(if any?)

So far not any bad effects.

So you’re spraying this on the inside of the mask to make it softer?

I would never risk this on any high end mask. Maybe it does work but personally I would be very wary of the long term effects.

No, it just happened to be smoother on the inside, my main intention was to prevent mask rotting which ghostrealm showed that it does the job with that with his rubber band test.

Fortunately with high end masks, they are made with better quality latex so they’ll last with little care.

If a cherished mask was rotting then I’d give it a shot for sure.

By long term I was talking like years down the road :+1:

I think it’d take tests prolonged for a couple years to see any real long term effects. Apparently people have been using the stuff on latex ventriloquist puppets for years

I’ve seen this product brought up a couple of times. It’d be cool if someone set up an experiment to test it out. Maybe take 2 pieces of latex from the same batch, spray one and not the other, and maybe leave them in the Sun or wherever weathering could be sped up.

Update: so the tots H6 mask ended up showing signs of rot anyway, it wasn’t a bad batch case because this mask has been through a lot and has survived for awhile. Thought I’d give everyone an update regarding this.

I’ve been using it since the original thread talking about it first popped up years ago. The one with the rubber band tests… I apply it every 6 months or so to all my ToTs masks. So far so good. My tots masks feel nicer than a nag mask.

That said, it is used in combination with proper storage techniques. I don’t believe it is a cure all for rot by any means.

Does it make the latex of the TOTS mask much less stiff? I might have to try this for my Elrod, cause I really have a hard time wearing it since my head is tall

Ken used this on all of the KHUs.

That’s comforting to know as I’ve used it on all my masks!

Honestly I probably should’ve kept at it, but life has its fun and games where it makes it near impossible to keep up with anything

Sorry, I didn’t see this.

It’s hard to describe. If you have a NAG mask, you know the way the inside feels silky smooth? Compared to a standard tots mask which is very dry and feels a bit papery inside, for a lack of a better way to describe the texture… The 303 gives it a much more silky and supple feel. It doesn’t remove all of the stiffness and it doesn’t make the latex more stretchy. It’s not magic, I wish it was, but it definitely seems to help in the long run in my own experience.

I never had an indie mask, but just the way you’re describing it, helps with the comparison which is great! thanks for the reply
