This is just my perspective. I, in no way, am saying that you wonāt get a mask from Ken. I donāt doubt that one bit. Will it be an undersized āchildā mask which truly wonāt be what it should have been limited to? Will a copy like the one I owned be sent out that had numerous air bubbles and holes in it? Who knows? That is essentially what the SLE project was.
You know what they say when it comes to past behaviorā¦they are a predictor of future behavior.
And lastly, you give someone money like that up front, what incentive do they really have to work in a timely manner to produce a quality product? Again, look at the SLE incident, and you will clearly see this in play.
Sorry babe, weāre not going to be able to pay the mortgage for a month and a halfā¦
āWhat?!? Why!?ā
Iām going to buy a $1,300 Michael Myers mask.
ā¦
I donāt think that will go over too well for me lol
But who knows, maybe Ill win the lotto
Or a bag of money will fall off the brinks truck
Or Ill meet a rich friend who will buy me all 30
Or Ill get consecutive big money side jobs
How much do you get for sperm these days???
But in reality, Ill just enjoy seeing the ones members get.
Will blanks be available? Seeing what JC could do to one would be insane.
Congrats to all that can get one! Hope everything goes smoothly for yall!
NO thank you! I believe I already have the best masks from JC, Justin from Nightowl, Chris from WMP, Sam from HSS, Dela Torre and movie mold SSN in the hobby. My threads speak for themselves. Therefore, I Donāt need to be spending more money on latex that could easily be spent on a mortgage payment, a 6 pack plus a gorgeous broad with the money leftover
Exactly, thatās some trust! It really doesnāt matter if you go by his past work, it doesnāt mean this will be the end all H2 mask. Whatās the incentive to put in all the hard work and hundreds of hours to sculpt one of most difficult masks to replicate? $39k, thatās what! If heās already got it, do you think heās going to put in more work than if he got a deposit and paid in full when the mask was completed? I donāt.
Iām out, but I truly hope this results in a great mask for all involved and in a timely manner. When I buy an album, I like to have heard a few songs first. But thatās me.
I agree, half that and Iād still be apprehensive. To me itās not necessarily the money, Iāve spent big bucks on collectables but they were finished and ready to ship the moment I paid. Because unless he has a team of people ready to help him take this on you can be bet you wonāt see anything for AT LEAST one year and more than likely twice or even thrice that!
There are so many other choices out there and for a fraction of the price, and that doesnāt include private sales of already finished masks. When I commissioned the artist to custom sculpt (from the ground up) a new mask for HR I didnāt pay a dime until I was shown mock ups, sketches, fracking Coles notes, anything! $1300 on a premise? Sorry canāt do it. I enquired like everyone else and when I saw that response⦠which by the way for $1300 I expect a personal reply or next time mention the parameters up front and those hundreds of emails will magically because 10-15 and bingo bango now you can answer them all.
This. I was going to drop a deposit immediately, but no chance Iām dropping $1,300 up front knowing thereās no recourse once 6 months passes. And, you know thereās no chance that people have these in their hands in 6 months from the date they send payment. What happens in 8, 9 months or a year or 2 when people donāt like the way the sculpt is turning out?
1300$ and no pics?
Itās a huge price indeed, and to pay in full is kind of a no go.
Most artists Iāve worked with took 50% upfront and 50% once done.
I wouldnāt mind selling another piece of my collection to fund this one after seeing some pics that convices me.
Yeah⦠I was just thinking⦠I would want to make sure it fits my head perfectly and really hits the notes I find awesome in a mask. Because if I got it and I wasnāt happy, that would suck after a year or however long.
To be fair his message said he is putting all other work aside for this
Yeah, I think Iām with the majority so far on this one. I was super excited about this when I first saw the post and messaged Ken right away but once I saw the price and thought about it for a good bit I decided it was too much money to gamble when nothing has even started. 50% up front and 50 once finished would have been more than fair and I think I would have went for it then. Hopefully everything works out for those who have decided to order. I have no doubt that Ken will deliver something at some point but no one knows what and when.
Very good points all around, especially Jon & Mark
Iāve been speaking to Ken back and forth about this & he seems to think that only $100 more ($1300) compared to the $1200 SLE (which was accurately described by Jon above)ā¦for this new incarnation of the 2017 KH is fair⦠Regardless of the previous incarnations (which the KH/DW is great in a certain enviroment)the price is still unreasonable considering the market that this is being offered too, that is a fact. Many new and veteran members were looking to pay in the ballpark of $500-$700ā¦which is still up there, not to mention I pointed out to him which he still is not grasping is, the fact that 95% of the clientele that will entertain this project especially without seeing a finished mask will be from Michael-myers.net forum /Facebook group.
Many have already passed & if he can get $39,000 for this then all the power to himā¦but the price is too steep for many myself included(Just my opinion) People will say oh wellā¦the 2k was $2,000 ā¦yea the 2K kirk mask⦠was a turning point of accuracy to a very rare mask that no longer existsā¦and it was made in a reasonable time frameā¦on top of the fact this new KH is still⦠A RUBBER MYERS MASK.
There are so many other options available now to collectors that are almost as good as the original kirks, its that cut and dry. Your buying a name, or as Ken said this is only & I quote āaimed at very serious collectorsā ⦠Iām sure everyone in Hollywood who owns all the screen used props from various films are the āserious collectorsā lining up for these michael myers masks.
It really isnāt so much the money that bothers me cause i can get my old woman too help me with that lol ācombine forcesā but the fact we donāt see what the hell were getting after laying all that loot down!!! āUnfairā
Donāt get me started on Size of the maskā¦im one of the pickiest people on this earth about a mask fitting my melon. If it want fit or too big āi donāt want itā
Shut my trap now " donāt wanna be a broken record here"
