_…APRIL’s FOOL (of course)! Although there are those who DO agree with that statement I am certainly not one of them. After collecting masks for many years I’ve owned about everything. TO THIS DAY I still say the KHDW and 4 Stamp are the two best replica Myers masks ever made. There are some GREAT masks out there (ID, 98 Proto, Psycho, SSN Shanks and Durand, Hardin Six, Brother’s Return just to name a few) but nothing quite “does it” for me like the KHDW.
There is a magic to the sculpt and (just like the hero) it is truly “lightning in a bottle” that only happened once and will never happen again.
I had a string of hard financial hits in a row (just before a pricey vacation) that led me to losing three of my most prized masks a couple years back. So far I’ve recovered two of them and working on the third. Hopefully I’ll not be in this situation again as it has been extremely difficult to recover the losses and get my collection back where I want. This mask fills what was the biggest hole and now the mask collection’s recovery is near complete.
VERY special thanks to Joe Stevenson (“Pumpkinhad”) who was the original owner of this KHDW #27 mask and kept it for nearly its entire former life. The whole time Joe owned it he treated it like the gem it truly is. He sold it to Matthew Lucostic who owned it briefly (and also cared for it properly) then offered it to me.
This copy of the Ken Hertlein/Dick Warlock has a paint up very similar to the Hero mask. In some lighting there is nearly any visible “weathering” to be found, in other lighting it is quite apparent. The mask is probably the most mint copy I have owned the only other one that really rivaled it in this regard was Darren Hughes’ old copy. We all know the collection Darren has and how he cares for his pieces so that says something.

Thank you for posting these pictures Benny! After looking through them more, the weathering reminds me a lot of a KHDW Gold Sig style! I wish I could’ve jumped on it when Matthew offered it to me, but I was heart broken that I do not have the funds to snag probably once in my lifetime KHDW Mint opportunity! Lmk if you ever sell it, congrats Benny!

Thanks Rod, there are two people who asked for dibs just ahead of you but I hope to never sell it. If I were to ever let this one leave it would be either an emergency, I’m leaving the hobby for good or someone offered me one of two other KHDWs I love. That’s about it!

Darrens old KH used to be mine and I was the one who repainted it after the paint was stripped by the former owner it was sold to darren… It was a very very clean copy, however the guy I bought it off of stripped the paint so I went and painted it as close as I could to Ken’s work… I believe that copy has since been repainted… YOUR COPY is so nice to see… It is legit all OG paint and just a GEM of a copy! GREAT SCORE MY MAN!

I genuinely love this mask, but what’s the deal with the color of the hair?
It was a mistake… Ken dyed the hair to try to match the Hero but it took the wrong way. Ken said he wasnt happy with the color, but used it anyway. I dunno if he just couldnt get the color right or what, but from what I remember the dye just didnt go as planned.
