I’d like to start a discussion about the Ken Hertlein Rare.
For those who are unaware, the mask I am referring to is in the MM.net gallery here:
http://www.michael-myers.net/myersgallery/index.php/myersreplicas/album19
It was sculpted by Ken Herlein many many years ago and considered by some to be the pinnacle of indy myers masks.
Although the Rare was WAY ahead of it’s time when created, I wonder how well it would really stand up to the scrutiny of screenshot comparisons against masks available today. There are less than a dozen images available of it worn and none of them really are in the perfect angle and lighting to have a fair shot against the traditional ‘scenes’ we use to rate our masks (at least not at the level of scrutiny THIS BOARD is known for).
Do any of you still consider this to be the end-all be-all of myers masks?
I’d have some questions for Ken, if given the chance. Maybe some of this is known already.

Many of the myers community members consider the Rare to be significantly more accurate than the KH/DW. I wonder what Ken wasn’t satisfied with that caused him to re-do it.

I assume it was Ken who wore the mask in the gallery shots, is this correct?
-
Does the mold or master still exist?
-
How long did it take him to sculpt it?
