Hey everyone. Let’s talk about what imo makes or breaks a mask…the hair. Right now, I have two h1’s. The Fear and the elrod. Both are two completely different styles of h1 masks. I want this thread to be about all h1 masks, so everyone please chime in.
For me, when I picture the h1 mask, I picture the hair slicked back, with a section in the top front sticking up. Also some hair sticking out on the sides, as with h2. Now, the fear has hair that is mostly slicked back, with none standing up on top. For this particular sculpt, I think this looks good. I guess what I have noticed is the skinnier the sculpt, the better looking the hair is when sticking out in various spots. The wider the sculpt gets, the better looking the hair is completely slicked back. I’m just using my two h1s as comparison, so please chime in with other h1s and your opinion.
I agree; the hair is very crucial to an H1 mask. Has to be styled just right or it can throw the mask off. Very few masks pull it off IMO
Also agree on the hair.
I like the fear, don’t have one but often consider getting one since I got a warlock from him.
But the hair he does on the Fear really turns me off to no end. I wish it would be done totally different. The fear has a round look to it which isn’t bad, but the hair make s it asymmetric and not enough to pull off a Myers H1 imo.
Yes, hair plays a vital role.
Yes, I totally agree, the hair is one of if not the most important details to get right on an H1 or its just off. And I can see your reasoning on why the hair should look different depending on the shape of the mask, being that in H1 Nick Castle gave it a more slim look and had the poofed up hair on top whereas in H2 Dick Warlock gave it a wider appearance and had slicked back hair… Personally, I was never crazy about the hair on the TOTS Elrod and hospital masks because of the type of hair used, just doesn’t look right on an H1 to me, its too fluffy or spiky looking or something, though the color is great.
Yeah, the hair on the elrod is not the greatest, but at least you can style it. I’m hoping to have mine rehaired by loper soon.
Cool. I’d love to see the finished product after hrs done!
