Was sitting around today and started looking at this 19 inch plastic behemoth of a knife from the local Halloween store. Well I took a few Rivets, a soldering iron, some Metallic paint and sand paper and came up with this! Total cost is about 9 dollars and I think it looks pretty decent.
Also am making another one out of thin aluminum that should be done tomorrow.
And my buddy is making me a steel one that I posted the other day!! Should get it next weekend.
Here are the pics of the cheap one.
What I started with. 19 inch about 5 inches in depth
What I made. I cut about 2 inches in blade height and modified the curve a little, soldered the blade back together, Added the shiny paint and sanded it to make it look a little old and realistic. Then added some fake blood. Gotta add more to that.
Here is what the other one looks like right now that I am making. By the way the ones I am doing are like MaGuyver style props!! LOL. This one is folded aluminum cut out into a 16 inch knife. Handle was scrap wood that I have to stain still and the blade is in the process of being welded with JB Weld. Told ya MacGuyver. LOL. When its done I will sand it down and weather it some. The JB weld is maikng the edges smooth and squared off so they can not cut!!!
I messed the handles a little when I drilled for the rivets but oh well, and all the stuff on it is JB Weld.
They are not professional by all means but it is fun as heck to make em yourself!! And they are a CHEAP alternative!!
Here are pics of the one my buddy is making for me for free. If we draw any interest in his he may make more to sell!!
Never thought this stuff would be so much fun to do!! Be nice with your comments please. LOL
