I’ve always been interested in the H2SM can someone explain the history behind it? It’s one of the very few masks that really pull of a H2 IMO

I’ll take a stab at it. Although, there are bits that are foggy to me.
A guy named Bry Hoffman, with permission, recasted a VERY nice 75 Kirk owned by a couple with the last name Medley. The mask created was called the HMK (Hoffman Medley Kirk). The project was a debacle and the mask had its issues; it was tiny. I owned one. It was VERY small. I believe Hoffman then redid the mask and made it into a wearable version, but the proportions were distorted. Hoffman took the face and ears and stuck them onto a larger skull, making it look odd. Additionally, I believe this is when he made an H2 version (H2SM).
The H2SM sculpt has changed hands a couple of times. Martin Pena owned it after Hoffman and retooled the sculpt, I believe. I don’t know what he did to it to make it different (this is the kind of info that I wish was more readily available). Rowland Kelly now owns the sculpt and offers the H2SM identical to what Pena offered, just finished to Kelly’s talents. I don’t think Kelly has retooled it, but I could be wrong. I think he mentioned once that he intended to retool the mask? I could be getting this wrong.
That’s what I know.

Edit: The nuance and differences between each iteration is lost on me. The threads involving Hoffman are LONG and a lot of them are not helpful in establishing these differences.
Edit 2: I found a comment by Rowland from 2018 that says he owns the H2SM Old Mold Master… this would mean it’s not the “new mold” listed on the lineage chart… meaning it’s not the Pena new mold but the Hoffman original?
This is exactly the kind of stuff that is so difficult to track and catalog. Regarding the other thread, I don’t know how anyone could keep all of this straight… it’s a cluster.

i recall maybe 1 or 2 years back some progress photos of Rowland retooling the sculpt but I could be wrong tho

I haven’t retooled it yet, I am working on a h1sm retool and a different kind of h2 though.

that sounds awesome, I’m pretty sure it was the start of the h1sm retool now that I think about it.
