This question has been on my mind for quite some time now…I have always been curious as to why the michael myers mask changes from halloween 1 & 2 to halloween 4. The mask is completely different in halloween 4 and I have always been curious as to why. I have a theory but if anyone could fill me in it would be greatly appreciated.

That was my theory all along. I figured since JC had nothing to do with H4, H5, etc, then he wouldn’t allow his mask to be used in the movie either. That probably explains why there hasn’t been an identical mask since H1 and H2. That’s what I’ve thought all along, but I just wanted to make sure I was correct…
JC doesn’t have the rights to the mask.

From what I remember, John was involved with H4 and H5, but he stopped at H6. The reason they changed masks is because Star Trek was asking for profit since the Myers mask was originally a Captain Kirk.
because H1/H2 mask was burnt to a crisp? as for the rest, well, that’s why H5 is called the continuity breaker.

I agree with outbreak, I believe that, The Star Trek Camp wanted compensation for the likeness, so the producers just changed up “The Look”, so they wouldn’t have to pay for the likeness.

you can search the forums here and find all your answers. ofcourse they will be mixed in with all sorts of misleading info like John Carpenter was involved with H4/H5. thats an obvious ‘not so’. but the legal copywrite issue is the biggest factor.
they didnt use a different mask in H4 simply because they burned the others. they didnt want to have to pay anyone royalty rights for using a “1975 Don Post Captain Kirk” mask.
not to mention by 1988 the 75 Kirks were long out of production and already getting hard/expensive to obtain.
