First off I’d like to mention it was a super smooth transaction and great work for only his third mask!
The mask itself is pretty small as it’s a recasted Don Post. The pull isn’t the best but he isn’t the maker just the finisher. I will start with the fact that I tend to prefer the heavily weathered H2s nice and dirty and grimy. He nails the look pretty good imo. In the project post he mentioned not keeping it 100% screen accurate. As far as paint goes the only thing I see missing would be the knitting needle hole that would be present on an H2. Now to make it look right the mask itself would also need the hole and the pull doesn’t have one molded in. So maybe he didn’t want to damage it by adding one or simply just left it out. Honestly that’s just me being a little bit picky and a perfectionist. The finish otherwise is just how I like the H2 look, nice and weathered.
The eye cuts shape wise are pretty good for the H2 look. The pull is pretty thick so it’s up to the shape of the cut as you probably couldn’t get a nice fold over so to speak for the eye shapes doing a traditional eye cut. The eye cuts could be a little smoother but shape wise are on. The smoothness is something I’m sure he’ll pick up on as he does more, and is easily fixed with a Dremel. Overall I’m happy with the eye cuts, which are one of the most make or break things about a mask for me.
Onto the hair. The hair on H2s can be subjective, I’ve seen blonde, red, brown, and the blonde misted black that appeared on the H1. This copy he gave a kind of blonde misted black look I’d say. It’s got the matted down greasy look just like it should. Honesty the hair itself kinda looks like what the hair may have looked like after being on 2 movie sets and stored horribly in between. Hairline is pretty good too considering how small the mask is. It’s not overly straight and smooth like some. It may be a bit more forward than needed, but on this small of a pull it’s hard to say if it’s too far up or not. It can still be styled a bit or be kept with the matted look.
The mask’s overall look and feel is a nasty, dirty, greasy, and grimy Myers perfect for an H2. I would look for great things to come from Alex in the future as he gets more and more experienced. As mentioned if you feel I left something out or have a question please feel free to mention it.
