Cool thread Mike I’m with those who feel that the boogeyman need’s no rational explanation. Just pure evil that drives him! This is what made Loomis so scared and us so fascinated by the whole thing. I dislike the RZ films mainly because of the whole backstory thing.
Later!
VERY COOL THREAD MIKE , VERRRRRY COOL.
ALL THESE QUESTIONS HAVE BEEN A PLEASURE READING, I MUST SAY.
MY QUESTION IN 78 IS:
WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH THE HARDWARE STORE BEING BROKEN INTO?
MICHAEL HAD THE MASK ON HALLOWEEN MORNING WHILE HE WAS CREEPING AROUND WATCHING EVERYONE.
THE ALARM IS STILL ON AROUND 6:30PM FROM THE MORNING OR NIGHT BEFORE?
HE BREAKS IN, STEALS A KIRK MASK, BOUGHT CUTICLE SCISSORS, WHITE & BLACK SPRAY PAINT, 3 KNIVES 2 ROPES.
THEN DRIVES TO HIS HOUSE?
I’m going with Jay’s reply ^^
Michael is simply JUST the BOGEYMAN. He is what Laurie has always imagined as the embodiment of the bogeyman, that just happens to be Michael Myers. The bogeyman can only come out on Halloween night, and apparently WON’T die. By the time we get to second movie, she discovers the bogeyman was her brother - who could have haunted her memories for 17 years. (Perhaps the dream in part 2 is a recurring dream in her life???) The bogeyman DID die though in that fire…
This is awesome guys!!! Nice thread…for a change! I thought loomis was just drunk…i mean come on…he’s always just running around screaming in peoples faces like a crazy bum. Shoots him…or atleast he thought. Michael makes the movements as if he’s been hit just to fool him and then gets the hell out of there. Just to keep on killing!
In Halloween II, when the nurse finds Loomis at the school, what in the hell is the janitor still doing there cleaning the floor? You can see him in the background when Loomis talks to the nurse. “Oh, I didn’t recognize you.”
Mr. Garrett: Why would he think someone was hiding in those closets if the padlock is still on the door?
another Halloween II: Wouldn’t you blow out your eardrums if you really fired a revolver inside a car? “What’s that you fellas do? Fire a warning shot?” BLAM!!
I know these aren’t Myers specific, but just things I noticed when I watch HII.
Oh also, John Carpenter obviously went for a psychologically ill killer, because I remember watching his interview saying that he went on a class trip to a sanitarium & saw a young boy diagnosed with schizophrenia & sat very still with this blank stare. So I believe that influenced him to come up with the creepy character of Michael so he’s most likely schizophrenic who just snapped after 15 years. & this is indeed a great thread & is what the general discussion forum is supposed to be about! Oh also at the “pee break” remark, that was a good one.
My question Is about the scene in H-1 Where Michael Myers escapes from the Smith’s Grove Sanitarium. Exactly what takes Dr. Loomis so long to come to the aid of the lady inside the station wagon when she’s being attacked by Myers? First, Loomis gets out of the car and goes to message the front desk or whomever, then Myers (loudly) jumps on top of the car (witch should have been heard by Loomis), and then the lady (stupidly) thinks “Hmmmm, there’s somebody on top of this car… let me roll the window down to see who it is”, and then Michael Myers grabs the lady from on top of the car, she screams, (again, Dr. Loomis should have heard), she floors the gas peddle (witch apparently takes that car 15 MPH), then she hits the brakes, (the car couldn’t be any further than 25 or 30 feet away from Loomis), she moves over to the passenger’s seat and wait’s for a solid 10 seconds, then Myers brakes the passenger’s window, the lady takes at least a few seconds get outside the car, and another 10 seconds pass by when she runs away from the car and slips on the side of the road and watches Myers drive away in the vehicle, then FINALLY (after Myers had already peeled out), Dr. Loomis comes bursting onto the scene like a bat out of Hell after the car (without a gun drawn, or anything), like he was going to do something. Then he has the nerve to say “He’s gone, he’s gone from here, the evil is gone”!!! Well of course he’s gone, you only gave Michael Myers half an hour to do what he did. Talk about a pea break, lol. …ANDY
for me, its a mix of the opinions above, i do believe he was a human, possesed with SOME super natural abilities, because of the evil inside of him…obviously you arnt going to see “pure evil” driving a car, but you will see a human driving a car…he was a mix between the both…and I love the idea of him putting the bullet proof vest on, would have never thought of it, but it makes alot of sense!
I like the thought, that Michael does not know WHAT he’s doing at all…
He lives in a permanent blackout. No anger, no evil thoughts… He does what he does.
I also had the idea for a Halloween sequel, that shows what a sweet, nice boy Micchael was
until those blackouts started. they came more and more often, in school, during playing games, at home… until
all ends on Oct. 31, 1963… Could be an interesting story…
But my unanswered question is:
WHAT, THE HELL IS MICHAEL DOING DURING THE REST OF THE YEAR???
I interpreted this as more mechanical, even insectile, movements. To me it conveyed that Myers was not in pain, but inhuman.
Yeah, that’s pretty much how I interpreted this…Michael was totally taken over by Evil, and his body gradually broke down towards the end. He was just a tool or puppet controlled by this greater, darker force.
My question: Why the hell did they let Rob Zombie ruin the Halloween series and Myers image???
And if Moustapha Akkad was still alive, would that have made a difference???
These questions drive me nuts …
Ive always wondered anput the openign secne of h5 where you see michael fall into the mine and then crawl into the river. The beginning of the scene clearley has the h4 mask, but once he gets wet, the mask looks different. I always wondered how could water change a mask that much?
