Michael Myers VS Religion ?

I don’t want this post to get out of hand, I would like to thank everyone for their comments. The reason I posted was after that happened, I was angry and hurt …I Thought of my family being judged for my obsession with horror…it really made me sick thinking about it. I was thinking of takin my stuff down. But because of your positive comments and my wife and kids bringing there friends in to see my stuff the last couple of months, saying Oh thats so cool. Myers is here to stay ! Thank you guys.

no no no that,s your stuff man and There,s nothing wrong with you. This is AMERICA brother and these masks mean something to us . In this life happiness comes in short spurts so you keep being you. I always had my horror stuff around My daughter and she turned out fine. Invite him back and have your whole family all wearing masks when he walks in lol. It,s all good man

Hahahaa!! This sounds very familiar bro! I can totally understand where you’re coming from. I get the same crap all the time from my parents and it pisses me off. I’m really glad this topic came up because so many of us can relate to this, I respect everyone’s own beliefs and all religions, but I myself have a relationship with God and have my personal faith. But just because I love this Hobby which I’m proud of and Love Collecting Myers Mask as well as other mask that doesnt mean I’m a bad person, Santanic or any other crap people might say about us.I love Halloween and Horror Movies but it’s just entertainment that I enjoy. I’m 30 yrs old and a father of 3 kids and I hate when my parents or anyone tries to tell me ignorant things or ideas like your kids are not going to be raised in the right direction,or its bad luck to have those things in your house. Or that I need to get closer with god when these people dont even go to Church. It’s just funny how people try to preach and they have so many flaws themselves. I also have some of my Favorite Slasher Tattoos like Jason Vorhees and Michael Myers Inked on me, so my friends with Tattoos :partyman: :supz: :supz:

There are some people who feel it is their right to preach to people they don’t know simply because “they know best”. The guy should not have said anything to you unless you brought up both the display and religion in the same conversation (why you would do this I have no idea, but you get my point). I have beliefs of my own, but I don’t bring them up unless someone asks about them, and I think that’s fair.

I would say call the company that he works for and tell them about this, not to get him fired, but to prevent him from doing this with someone who may not take it as well as you did.

I had a cable guy come over to install a new DVR.
He saw all my Jason busts, hockeys in the room, and all he said was, “So, you like Jason huh?”
I said, “Yup.”
and he went right on with his job.

Great thread! I have also asked myself if this is a good or bad hobby when I have been raised on belief of religion, faith, and God. This is all for fun and entertainment. Collecting Myers masks, and other horror related hobbies should have no bearing on one’s religious beliefs. I personally love collecting iconic horror masks, because it’s fun, and I like entertaining people. I do not pray to Michael Myers, Freddy, or any other horror icon. I do say my prayers to god, and I am somewhat religious. So, I wouldn’t worry about any conflict.

It’s funny that this thread is about a guy that was there in regards to HVAC. I had a guy over at my place in late October to replace an ignitor switch in my furnace. He was looking at my masks and loving them. It turned out he was a fan of Horror films. My mannequin was still on display at the time and he loved that as well. As far as your incident. I would have literally tossed him out of my house by the back of his shirt. And if he put up a resistance I would have knocked his a$$ out.

Couldn’t agree more bra’. :sunglasses:

    :supz: :supz: :supz: :supz:

Religion, and just Theocracy in general, has given the world so much horror, torture, and fear than anything Freddy, Jason, or Michael could come up with.
For me, the Holy Trinity is guilt, shame, and fear.
Just my 2 cents.

You should have thrown it back in his face about all the horrible and very REAL things that have been done in the name of religion, while he judged you and your love for FICTIONAL stories.

Mike

Ridiculous. Just because you like Halloween and appreciate the art of the masks, etc. doesn’t mean it influences your beliefs. I believe most of us are here because we appreciate the time, talent, and dedication that goes into mask making/film/etc (also bc Myers is just cool)… we aren’t here to worship him or use our displays to worship Myers. That guy needs a reality check  People fear what they don’t understand.

^My favorite responces in this entire thread lol

Nice Thread.
I personally am a Christain and go to a Southern Baptist Church.
I don’t make conversations about my masks in church lol but whenever friends or family come over I proudly show them my collection and tell them the wonderful history on some of my pieces.
As a matter of fact I was talking to a co-worker friend and she asked what hobbies did I have I first said guitar pickin’.
Then I said I collect White Myers masks.
Well of course she says are you talking about Jason?
I explain to her what they are and she looks at me with a weird look.lol
But anyway I proudly tell everyone about my collection I mean what harm is being done by collecting masks its like working the haunted house which many churchs go through with youth and kids.
If they judge that’s their problem not mine.
I also spread the Wonderful Word Of Jesus Christ I try to lead as many people I can to him.
I don’t feel like a bad person for my collection.
Your always gonna have some rude hypocritical people voicing their opinions.
Just thought I’d share my view on this topic.
:·)
God Bless Guys!

I also spread the Wonderful Word Of Jesus Christ I try to lead as many people I can to him.,This is what he was doing ! Because he seen my display he felt the need to do so. I haven’t read the whole Bible, but this guy was quoting scripture, like i was breaking so many commandments my kids was getting the repercussions of it.

Wow I’m very sorry that happened to you. He had no right to impose any of his views on you. I’ve had alot of work done on my house in the past year and everyone who cared to ask about my collection enjoyed and respected it. My AC guy actually turned out to be a top rated ghost hunter in my area and stayed an hour past the completion of the job to tell me a few stories based on his experiences that really freaked me out. One of which was about a ghost who left dimes in odd places and since then I’ve actually found few inexplicable dimes here and there :open_mouth: Don’t let anyone get you down especially when their on your turf!

Don’t let it bother you.
Being from a non religious nation, there will always be a few that will point the finger at you. It may be your Myers collection, it may be the type of music you listen too… hey, it may be your GF. From my experience, most of these idiots and hypocrites that point the finger at us collectors don’t really have a hobby or a goal in life. Instead they like to point the finger at someone who’s different. Guess it makes them feel good about themselves.lol

The funny thing about some people and religion is they say God is the boss but for whatever reason feel the need to make all the judgements for him.

You can’t judge someone because they like owning a Myers mask…well not unless there is a dead body with a knife in the back lying in front of the mask!

:drinkers:

That is why I tell anyone who asks, horror movies are fantasy. No different than any other type of fiction. REAL LIFE? - now that is what is scary!

Plus it is funny you mention this, because a friend of mine posted a link to this on facebook.
