Did TLW say they were Big Macs? Where did this info originally come from?
I’ve checked every Big Mac I could find for years from the 60s to the 70s era and have yet to find a pair that match the pocket flaps on Castles.
I too have yet to see some BigMacs with that squared off pocket flap. As much as I love mine, the inaccurate flap does sadden me a bit. The Reeds I have for H2 are more accurate for H1 than my BigMacs, but the BigMacs still look better all around though.
Out of curiosity, why do you think that? I, personally, have no opinion one way or another as to what actual brand was used (we’ll probably never know with certainty), but I still think they could’ve been BigMacs and that it’s possible we just haven’t come across any with the squared off flap yet.
I doubt we’ll ever truly know. Perhaps Kirk Magnum has a better view from seeing the untouched camera negatives in the daytime out-takes. I see navy blue in daytime scenes sans colored lighting and can see why people say they see charcoal, spruce green, and olive green. Honestly with the weathering done there’s probably a mix of colors in there.
I also see navy blue in the daytime scenes in H1. Another question is: What color was the jumpsuit intended to be? The on-screen color or the actual color. I never saw it in person so for me, watching it on screen, it looks navy blue in most shots.
I’m also a huge Star Trek fan and a model builder. I’ve built a couple of models of the Enterprise and researched the color of the studio model. There’s been the same debate for years regarding the actual color of the Enterprise studio model. It was revealed it was painted a light gray with a hint of green. However on screen it appears mostly light gray or even white at times.
So… I feel either green or blue for the coveralls is OK depending on which look someone is going for: onscreen or actual color.
I remember being told from someone who interviewed Tommy Lee Wallace that Castle was offered the coveralls, boots and knives after filming, but he didn’t take them. And another thing I heavily recall back in 09 is that the coveralls surfaced on ebay (I should have thought ahead and saved the pics from the auction that day) I didn’t pay much attention to them at first but they were faded and had the olivewood appearance with a greyed out tone, but all the holes and dirt marks were there as well as the heavy scuff marks, pricing I think they sold for like 120 bucks, I can’t remember exact but that’s what I do remember from that specific auction
Well if you think about it, clothes can be very limited if they aren’t popular, I mean the example I can give is the original sunglasses from the first Terminator, the first generation only lasted for a year and just over a couple hundred were made as well as promotional pairs which were different in the aspects of lens protection, I managed to snag a pair and they weren’t like regular’s I have seen, now come to 85 and they release the 85mm’s which are the same as the first gens but smaller and with a different nose piece, thousands of them are on ebay and people believe those are the model arnold wore in the movie when they aren’t.
That’s why I’m interesting in what Kirk Magnum sees in the negatives, as the negatives would not have gone through the color correction process in making the answer print, so what’s there is what was shot.
