This will be the full history of my Halloween 4 Concept Mask, made through my mask brand Night Witch Productions beginning in the spring of 2020.
The MS88 began as a limited 12-mask run (Series I as it is now called), featuring 12 very weird and different H4-stylized masks, all made with the same base blank. Here is a photo of said 1st series. More to follow below.
Here is one of the few photos I have from the sculpting process. For this project, I actually bought one of the standard Shatner lifecasts and slapped in directly on my head form, sculpted clay around it, added grotesque features and distortion and rot and grunge (the mask is supposed to look as if it had been in that mine shaft for 40+ years). I used a pair of silicone ears from Ebay in order to get the ears just right (albeit a bit too small for my taste).
Here is the first set of pulls; I did a few thick latex ‘master copies’ and the 12 thinner pulls for the actual 12-mask limited run.
The FINISHED Ms88 #1, which I ended up calling ‘Proto’. I finished him up along a few other ms88 masks at the same time, which you can kind of see in the background of some of these shots:
Here are the two masks that would eventually become the #8 and #9 masks: ‘Waffle Cone’ and ‘Double Scoops’ in process. As you can see, since I didn’t ‘sculpt’ on eyebrows originally, I had to manually add them with latex each time I did an ms88 mask.
Masks #6 and #7: ‘Pinkie’ and ‘Pinkie Stunt’; I would go on to add blood to one of these before selling.
The ‘Pinkie’ Stunt wasn’t sold; I instead sent it to AJ of the House of Masks for one of his Mailbox Monday unboxing streams a few years back. Hilarity ensued; ‘the mask isn’t pink!’ (it was).
