Hey guys.I was really excited to go to this Monster-Mania,as I was fortunate enough to have my wish granted with the presence of Night of the Creeps cast.I met Tom Atkins in California but had not met the other cast members. So,this was a HUGE one for me,being a junkie for that movie.I had a NOTC movie poster for them to sign and I planned on making that my prize,of all my autographs last night.I was looking forward to meeting Malcolm McDowell, who is obviously a legend and another horror legend,Bill Moseley.
So,I’d like to report that the convention was a GREAT time, but it was a day riddled with obstacles.I am happy to report that I got all of the “work” done and achieved all of my meeting/autograph goals.
The weather going out was bad,but we made it in average time,an hour and twenty minutes from my house.I passed up the opportunity to grab cash in advance, taking a foolish gamble and hoping the hotel would have a functioning ATM machine or multiple machines.Struck out rough on that one…one machine, out of order!!So,had to give up the parking spot at the far end of the parking lot I had to wait for,get soaked…again…and hunt down a bank. After it was said and done, the wife and I were greeted with the usual terrible service at the bar in the hotel.I was looking forward to drinks just to get a little loose after the theatrics. There was an angry mob assembling, ready to choke the bartenders, who continue to be the worst in the tri-sate area.Everything else went well, until the ride home, which took us THREE HOURS in a monsoon!!!Returned home to no power in the house, which was not rebooted until almost 11 a.m. this morning.
With all of that said, everyone we met were just phenomenal.Tom Atkins remains one of the best human beings on Earth and the rest of the Night of the Creeps cast were awesome, especially Jason Lively and Steve Marshall.Malcolm McDowell was insanely personable and Bill Moseley is just a really great guy altogether.
My biggest regret is not catching up with the Matt’s,Chris and Curtis.Things were too chaotic and I never really truly settled in.We were there for a measly three hours.Catch you guys at the next one fellas.
So,it was a messy one,we left before most of the festivities(Q and A,films),but in the end,it was very memorable to say the least.I must say that I am VERY happy with the signatures I acquired.Got some priceless stuff.Without further adieu…
Bill Moseley-He signed a Devils Reject “Otis” figure I bought for entirely too much money there( ) and a screen-mold replica of Chop Top’s plate from Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.The plate has the screen-accurate scratches and says:“hey Randy, lick my plate, you dog dick”.Is that great,or is that great?
Tom Atkins signed my original Don Post skull and NOTC poster.I had him sign his name on the back and on the forehead of the skull. I asked him if he would sign his closing screams from HIII.He knew his work and obliged by printing "Stop it-Turn it off!!!"I couldn’t resist and even grabbed the Atkins shirt off of him.I had been meaning to grab one of them.By the way,Tom had signed a skull before mine and he said that and mine were the first he ever signed!!
Steve Marshall
Jill Whitlow
Jason Lively-This guy was truly the best!!Really enjoyed meeting him
My dream picture.Me and the cast of Night of the Creeps
The poster with all signatures
Malcolm McDowell, who I originally wanted to just have sign my A Clockwork Orange DVD.While he was doing that,I asked him how many people have annoyed him with the “Chett the Bringer of Death” thing from H2.He had no idea what I was talking about and responded with the best line…“You don’t think I remember this crap,do you?”.I almost pissed myself.I then had to have him sign an 8x10 addressed to Chett Also worth mention…He needed coaching on spelling Chett and what I wanted printed,so I recreated the scene and leaned in,telling him while I did my best Chett impression.I also asked him if he was a natural redhead when we took the picture together, which he did remember from H2 and that is reflected in his expression in the picture of us.He is royalty and it was a true honor to meet him.
All of the merch…
