Most Screen Accurate 1978 Mask?

I hate to ask this as there are 1000 forums and opinions on this but that’s the problem IMO. What is the most screen accurate Halloween 1978 Mask? Thank you

Anything that has lineage to a 75 Kirk.

NAG MMK

I would honestly say this is just a taaaddd too vague. There are masks that derive from a Kirk and suck, same with movie mold masks from some of the other installments.

Op, my personal favorites are anything that stem form the 98 Proto, which might as well be a mint condition kirk. In terms of what accuracy truly means these are closest that you will get, imo.

Whatever you find accurate, that’s it

If we’re talking personal opinion, or you’re “vision” of Michael, then sure. But accuracy to the actual sculpt detail, placement, forms, is concrete and not up for debate tbh

Getting it spot on to the Hero mask, people will still say it isn’t right, I do wish there was a way someone would allow their kirk to be scanned and 3D printed to make a mold off it

That has been done tjme and time again with direct recasting and it never achieves “it” for everyone. If you line up all the kirks that we have photos of each and every one is unique in the way it’s shaped and slightly distorted and the hero is no different. I think at this point scanning a Kirk won’t get us any closer to “hero”.

I agree, cause what they all lack, is the sag of the features which the hero mask had gotten due to neglect

Eye of the beholder

Probably 98 test mold or 98 proto. For just the shape my personal favourite is the 75k Old mold.

Ground up sculpt here & I know that turns alot of people off. I really don’t care though. I’ve owned most (almost all) of the others and this is the one that does it for me as far as the overall movie look & what I see on the screen

I have to agree, the ID is my favorite H1 mask, and for being a ground up sculpt, it is unbelievably accurate. So much so, it almost puts other masks to shame, in my opinion. Regardless, aside from the ID, I believe the most accurate H1 masks are the NAG 98 Proto, the PS78, and the NAG 75K.

I agree man. Those others you mentioned are all incredible. I still miss my old 75K Castle but this one got me over it in a big way :jack_o_lantern:

Who made the ID mask and how much? I’m thinking about the PS78

The ID is a mask that is still in production actually. Unfortunately there’s been a delay. As far as the price goes, I’m really not sure. I bought mine second hand. James Mangrum is the maker of this mask.

I know you said '78 but hear me out. Everyone pictures The Shape differently. My best friend of 30 years sees Resurrections as the end all be all look, my sister sees H4 as the look, whereas I always have leaned toward H2 as my “Yep thats the Michael I know” look. So its going to be very hard to get a good answer here. Its also kind of loaded cause the mask in the film vs how it looks worn on different actors is two different things

Screen accurate will not necessarily be the same as hero accurate. The iconic images we see on screen are largely due to lighting and who is wearing the mask, also the WAY mask is being worn.

So for MY own tastes, I think the masks that best nail the on screen look of the hero (as long as the copies are good and properly converted, all copies are not equal) are the ID mask, the DB2 and Nightowl 4 Stamp. The Psycho, 98 Proto, and 75K and some 2Ks (especially Werner’s!) can do a really nice job as well.

Accuracy to the hero: NM78 (4 Stamp still my favorite), SHAT, 98 proto, 75K, some HMKs, some Nightmares (some are too thin in facial width).

Excellent summary!
