My H78 looks like official H2 image. Update: I'm wrong. :(

What’s up guys? Long time no post.

I’ve mentioned this in the past and to some friends but wanted to share. I’m pretty sure my NAG H78 converted by Mr. Carter was used as the official H2 image. And… I think it’s pretty cool actually.
3 years ago when James converted my H78 we posted pics in the famous green room. I was contacted by a bunch of people as I’m sure most of you get as well when you post a new score. Inquiries on where the mask could be bought and painted. There was this one gent that asked a ton of questions. I wish i still had the msg. I’m pretty sure it was the graphic designer of Trancas… I only realized this when I saw the image.

I thought the image looked just like a photo James took of my conversion.

and these are the photos on top of each other.

They fit like a puzzle piece.

Anyway, haven’t posted in a while… been busy with work but i wanted to post and say hello to all the gents i haven’t talked to.

Take Care,

Rick

Hah, that’s crazy! Not the first time Universal’s been caught using fan works in their products (I know a guy whose fan drawing ended up in an IDW comic), but it’s still neat to see it when it happens.

Hmm, I don’t think so, bro. It’s an H78, without a doubt, but I don’t believe that’s the image they used. Look at the shadowing, it has lighting coming from a different angle.

Mark

It’s an altered photo that any graphic designer can do including adding shadows. I have a degree in graphic design. I appreciate your opinion though.

That’s definitely the same picture. Pretty cool, dude!

Thanks guys. Yeah, shadows and filters aren’t the hard part of replicating an image. It’s the actual angle or view that is hard.

He sits on top of my manny now…

I’d get a lawyer and make Universal pay me something.

There’s no case to be had. It’s Universal’s IP (though, technically, with the H78 being an H1 mask, it’s really Trancas who has the IP in this case, but let’s not split hairs here).

That’s pretty cool man…

For your sake, I hope I’m wrong, but I still just don’t see it. It’s very close indeed, but the shadows and highlights are showing details that can’t even be seen in JC’s photo. To illustrate what I mean…

On the left is the H2 Blu-Ray cover mask, the same image used on the t-shirt you posted. You can see the sharp wrinkle lines on the bridge of the nose, just like on the H78 on the right. But in JC’s photo these lines aren’t visible. Not trying to be a jerk here or anything, I’m just not sure it’s the same mask.

Mark

Hey, it’s alright. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. The mask on the right is not mine, just saying. If you are familiar with Photoshop, lighting effects are under filter/render. This image was equalized, a duotone was added with a Pantone color, the brightness and contrast were added ( that’s how you see wrinkles and folds that you can’t see in the original…i.e. bridge of the nose. With lighting effects you can change an image to look like a spotlight was on it and it creates shadows. Just curious, do you think Universal bought an H78 and did special lighting with a professional photographer? It was all done with a graphic designer. He’s a good one at that. I could never replicate his work exactly because even though I know some of the filters he used, I don’t know all of them. Lighting effects are not the hard part, the angle of the image gives it away.

Another way to implement shadows is by using the airbrush tool with medium opacity.

Update: I asked Kaizu’s opinion and at first he thought it was my mask…until he found the real h78 that is without a question the mask used. I was wrong.

Kaizu and his crazy eye for detail. lol. And I’ll own that i was wrong. Seeing this image, it’s without a doubt the mask.

Ok, who’s H78 is this?

Kaizu strikes again haha

Kaizu should be in forensics.

It’s mine. Pretty crazy. I think I took the picture in 2009 when I was putting up the Apartment Corner Halloween display (RIP).

Either way both copies are outstanding . Mark , you have one hell of a set of eyes brother. Sweet mask Rikstar.

I stand corrected, as well. Good eye, Mark! You called it immediately.

It’s a beautiful copy. I though for sure it was mine.

I tip my hat to you Mark, I was wrong.
