My TOTS H2 Mask...

I checked out a number of unboxing vids on youtube and noticed there were a few subtle differences between them, I suppose it’s due to the fact that it’s a mass produced mask that comes off of an assembly line. Nevertheless, none of them looked exactly like the pics displayed on the TOTS website so I was hesitant to purchase one until now. Justin Mabry’s sculpts are by far some of the best representations of Myers I’ve seen to date, almost spot on. However, that being said, the paint job still needs to be improved upon. The weathering on the forehead of the mask wasn’t visible enough IMO. I’ve read a lot of complaints about the weathering on the nose but mine didn’t look all that bad. What I didn’t like was the white ending too abruptly from the chin down, I know it’s supposed to represent the paint being worn off from wearing and removing the mask during shoots, but it was a bit too much IMO.

I touched it up a bit using acrylic paints mixed with liquid latex and applied it with a sponge then rubbed some of it off around the neck giving it a bit of a worn look. I used a bit of charcoal and applied it softly with a dirty rag to accentuate the weathering in areas it needed it most so it would resemble that of the movie, also touches of black paint in the hair to darken it a bit making it look as though it was originally painted black but lost most of it’s colour, it also helps prevent the hair from shedding. I love the gritty look it has now.

Here are a few photos that were taken with my Iphone in a dark room bouncing a beam of light from a fluorescent flashlight off the ceiling above the mask to bring out the shadows. In the last pic, I turned off all other light sources and used a small reading lamp for travelling and clipped it to a shelf above the mask and pointed it downward. Proper lighting does play a huge hand in bringing out the facial features of Mabry’s sculpt.

I’ll try and post a pic later on with my coveralls.

Some pics of me with the coveralls experimenting with different lighting…

Also, I just got my Halloween II T-shirt from http://www.fright-rags.com . Check 'em out. They have lots of cool Horror/Sci-Fi designs from all the classics if anyone is interested.

Wow, dude! Nice job. I really like the weathering.

Thanks man.

Kinda looks like a H1 mask now lol
