Myers actors

Please list your favorite Myers actor,
My favorite: Nick castle
He invented the Myer walk and put out a creepy vibe.

Castle/Warlock/JJC??

I have high hopes for jjc

Agreed, Nick Castle for sure.

Nick Castle all the way!

Nick Castle is the GOAT. George Wilbur is pretty good, and I liked Don Shanks as well. Dick Warlock walked a little slow for me, Brad Loree was a little blank for me, and Chris Durand was alright but to me didnmt have the dimenor. Nick, George, and Don were solid for me.

Nick and Dick

Nick was the best but I’m partial to Dick Warlock. To be honest, I enjoyed most of the actors. Wasn’t a big fan of Wilbur in Halloween 4 nor the actor that played Michael in Resurrection but other than that I enjoy most of the Myers performances. And I also very much enjoyed Shanks in Halloween 5. There’s just something I can’t put my finger on that I enjoyed about the way Michael acted in that film. I also happen to think that Tyler Mane was phenomenal, especially for the direction the RZ films went in.

Castle, Warlock, Wilbur and Loree for me, wish Loree did a great job in the beginning, especially walking down the tunnel

Don Shanks.

Nick Castle
Dick Warlock
George P. Wilbur (H4)

Castle, warlock, mane, Durand, Wilbur “in pt 6”

The only actors that stand out to me throughout the franchise are Nick Castle and Dick Warlock. I’m not a huge fan of the slow, zombie-like Myers that Warlock did.

I have a good feeling about JJC. From what I’ve seen, he’s doing a great job

Nick Castle, George P. Wilbur, and Don Shanks. In that order. :myers:

Love Dick Warlock! Nick Castle would be my 2nd fav

I think the gang that did H1 were perfect, Castle and Wallace especially (though my favorite shot in the film supposedly had Debra Hill in the jumpsuit and mask).
Next up would be George Wilbur (he improved in H6, was hampered a bit in H4 by the filling they sometimes used to bulk up things like his shoulders which hurt his movement and made him seem unrealistic/made him stand out too much in a few scenes, and the mask not being as creepy as the H1/2 and H6 masks) and Tom Morga (only in a few scenes, but was great in them).
Next would be Michael Lerner (Lerner had that issue of trying to walk too fast in the hallway chase scene that brings him down a notch considering he shared H6 with Wilbur)
The final entry of my top Shapes would be Dick Warlock. He had the robotic movements that while they work in their own way they don’t really represent how The Shape was in H1, so it’a a mixed bag. I think having a lot of returning crew members from H1 being involved in H2 certainly helped.
I think Don Shanks was mainly hampered by weak direction. Not just the tear scene and the rage direction (both of which would fit in more with Rob Zombies Halloween series), but take for instance when T-ah-ina and Sammy were having a conversation outside in daylight (about the party and bedsheets and such) and The Shape is standing in the background, Don Shanks seemed to be aimlessly wandering and not being a creepy watcher/stalker (voyeur seems too sexual a word to use) like he was in H1, the bit where he is in the woods while Loomis is talking to him after the car chase was similar in this respect.
I feel like Brad Loree did a good job despite the corniness that exists in Resurrection, I mean he was directed to “sell” Busta Rhymes’ corny jump kick.
Durand’s movements seemed off at times, a bit too stiff and not flowing, in scenes where he didn’t have to walk he was fine.
Tyler Mane did a good job, while it wasn’t classic The Shape Michael Myers it wasn’t supposed to be so his performance worked with the material.

I feel like too much of a “performance” as The Shape works against the character. There shouldn’t really be anything getting in the way where the characterization feels unique, the character isn’t meant to stand out, but to be more like a whisper in the darkness.
