myers mask vs jason hockey mask

Ok, I didn’t know what category to stick this question under. Some of you may think this is silly, but I just would like your opinions. Which mask do you find more frightening/intimidating/scary looking? They both have a “emotionless” expression, but in different ways. This has nothing to do with the characters, JUST the masks of each. What’s your opinion?

Hmmm, my reflexive response was going to be “the Myers mask, OBVIOUSLY!!” lol, but I gotta think about this. I’ve looked at the Myers mask so often that it no longer has any effect on me except “I want one!” haha, but the hockey mask is something I’m not even a fan of (never been a fan of friday the 13th…for me it was always Nightmare on Elm St) so if I saw somebody coming at me with a knife and a silly hockey mask, that might frighten me more because it’s a mask that I don’t even like. Weird, I know.

I personally like the look of the Myers mask more then the Jason Hockey mask! The Myers mask represents a human ‘emotionless’ face so for me that’s the scarier looking mask.

I read (I think in the Fangoria H20 Issue from '98) where Steve Miner said they chose the hockey mask because they were sort of copying the look of the Halloween movies.

I always like a challenge, and to me the Myers mask has the greater one. Out of nearly 200 different sculpts, only a handful come close to the look of the Hero. It’s a mystery to all of us exactly what that mask looked like the day it had it’s eyes cut out, side burns ripped off, and it’s face painted white. The shapes, the configurations, the paint applications, how precisely to mod it, is not something that every singly person here will agree the exact same on. The Jason Hock has so much more information on it out there. Nobody will disagree on how exactly to place the holes, how to angle the chevrons over the eyes. Here it is, clear as day!

Now, find me it’s equivalent for the Myers mask. A full color, close-up, high quality shot from the set of the film. It doesn’t exist. Oh, we have some great images of that mask, but nothing near the quality of the above image. That’s why I’ll always prefer the Myers mask. It’s a hunt, a quest, to find the most screen accurate mask available.
