Myers on the black market...classified appreciation

i was thinking how it is alittle ironic that over the past year or so there has been alot of discussions about how the value of most myers replicas have been declining and not even worth what originally payed due to the economy and so forth. now with recent events, by marketing principles the value of these replica masks should have went back up to at least original sell value or more over night. the only problem with the masks being worth alittle more now is that we cant sell them! :stuck_out_tongue: kind of ironic to me.
so my questions, if you were selling or were considering selling a mask, has the recent events changed your mind and made you decide to keep them due to the fact that they are now much harder to obtain?
and personal value of collections? i feel mine is worth more to me now for sure. its going to be damn hard to get your hands on a stab or any other out of production replica. i sold off four out of my collection just afew weeks back that i could do without. now i kinda wish i wouldve kept two of them.
signitures: Looking? nmm. means im willing to trade one. Searching for nmm. means hook a brother up if you got one to trade. seems simply enough and one avenue to take.
maybe one day things will change but for now the classifieds will be sorely missed. i think i looked at the classies about as much as general discussion. so showing your appreciation and rememberence, please post only one pic of each mask you got from our classifieds and still own, can be any mask. again only masks obtained directly from the classifieds. :drinkers:

got this in a trade but still counts

Its funny you say that, because I was starting to feel a little bit guilty because Ive bought 6 masks in the last 3 months, and was thinking that ive over done it spending that much money in such a short time…but like you said, now, i dont feel bad at all, im actually even more happy that i did it then i probably ever would have, because they’re gonna be that much harder to find…The value of my masks has gone up for me because now, they seem more rare then they would have been! I was going to sell a H78/AHG, but im gonna hang on to it now!

i think you remember these shane  :

and also:

man, this is horrible, this is bringing back those memories of the feeling i got when i saw a mask i wanted and could afford and getting ready to hit that pm button! :frowning:

Although 100% licensed, this guy did come directly from the classifieds and it will never leave my hands as long as I live.

i think it is wierd how in the gallery it says the 98 shatner is cartoony and therefore undesierable to converters yet yours is one of the best myers masks i have ever seen, lol!

Thats because His isnt a standard 1998, it’s one of the unenlarged versions that retained detail and shape and hasnt been distorted by an enlarged mold…

oh, cool, thanks man!

This will be easy for me, I only got one mask through the classifieds, although I was planning on getting many more eventually :frowning: Anyway this was a good idea for a thread, and I think you made some good points. Sure demand is the same, but supply has been shaken up. That usually means prices go up, but we are still in the same economy, so I don’t think that will drive prices up right off the bat.

The majority of my collection will never leave their pedestals. I only have two white-masks that I’m willing to trade for equal-valued Kirks…or the monetary means to acquire said Kirks

excellent thread idea.

Most likely the mask I have actually owned the longest of ones bought from here.

You’re forgetting that the availability for both supply and demand are gone. Demand won’t be the same either if there’s nowhere for the buyers to go- they’ve both been shaken up.

Thinking masks are worth more doesn’t mean much if you have nowhere to sell it and nobody to sell it to.

No, I’m not forgetting anything, that is the way I see it and nothing has changed. You may look at the situation differently from me and that is fine, but the only part that has changed is the way people will go about making and buying and selling masks. To be honest I wouldn’t be surprised if the current state of affairs prompts new people to make new sculpts and new masks.

Sure some people will be able to charge more for masks and tell people “where else are you going to go?” but a lot of people have already taken steps to keep in contact with others. It is less convenient for the makers and buyers/sellers now, but it’s going to continue

I “acquired” these masks from great guys in the classifieds and plan on hanging on to them. Great thread!

Jerry

I agree. Mask values just went up for sure. Hold on to your good ones.

I just picked this up a couple of weeks ago in the classifieds.

thats the spirit men! and yes Marcus i do remember those jitb blanks, you didnt recieve my best work but they gave practice for my 99 shat ‘licensed’ conversion :stuck_out_tongue:
and way to show em Frankie…they cant shut us down for a 1998 D.P! if they delete those pics its because it scarred em
and thanks evilsmellyclown and slasher1978. but with only 14 replies it couldnt be that great of a thread idea :stuck_out_tongue: thanks to all who participated and shared your classified treasures :drinkers:
